He made some exciting music. He was very talented.

Billy Jean was classic.

I used to have parties challenging "Sympathy For The Devil"

vs "Billy Jean" for the greatest Rock & Roll songs of all time!

The crowd was generally split. (Of course there were other

favorites, but these parties were at my house.)

The first time Michael "moon walked", the entire nation was jazzed.

It was a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame concert. Everyone from the era

individually, paired up and as a group. Man, I'm telling you...

I remember watching it live and thinking WOW! The man was

one of the greatest entertainers of all time...until he got weird.

An artist, hell yeah...they're all weird!

R.I.P. :'(

Micheal Jackson was A legend and an Icon. Regardless of what he did in his latter years. RIP Micheal. :'(

Speechless, he contributed to many of my memories.

what is scary is that he was getting ready for a tour and he was in good health.

this highlights that 1) we all need annual physicals and 2) even young guys in good shape can have unknown physical problems.

this is a shocking loss.  :'(

Shocked.  Farrah and Jackson in the same day.

Back when MTV actually played music,  anyone that remembers the early years will remember that the Thriller album and video's with it, raised the bar dramatically on all music video's.  Jackson actually turned MTV on it's ear with that album.

He went nuts towards the end but he was definitely a talent with a great stage presence.

I think they said a heart attack.  I have to wonder if the number of times he was under heavy anesthesia would increase the risk.

And I agree, despite the strangeness in his later years, he was an icon of pop in the 80s and 90s.

Knowing the industry, he probably got a doctor to give him a clean bill of health to get the necessary insurance for his upcoming shows. He has been broke for a long time . Anesthesia and  maybe anorexia played havoc with him, it is no wonder his heart gave out

what killed him?

heart attack and he had 4 independent stress test done in march and passed ,I suppose makin sure he was ready for his 7 month tour thingy ,you just never know!! as Tim Mcgraw says "live like you were dying" each and every second and never take a breath of air for granted

I heard last week on the several different radio stations that he has been on a diet to get ready for his tour that would not exceed 500 calories a day and people were very worried about him. Supposedly some days he would only have a few grapes and water and was only around 110 pounds. So when I heard it I was not surprised. Probably had an electrolyte imbalance that caused a heart attack.

Michael Jackson was a truly unique talent, and the 80s decade was dominated by Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston & Madonna.

Eccentricities may be expected in performers that raise the bar to extraordinary heights.

All our lives were positively affected by Michael Jackson, and any negatives in his life only did harm to Michael himself.

(It's said that troubles come in threes: Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson)

It's truly sad how we as a society teach our young to be accepting of other people differences in appearance and beliefs and yet at the same time we're so quick to point out the freaks in the crowd and grill them because they don't follow the rest of the pack.

People can bicker all day about his lifestyle and the decisions he's made in his short life, but we can all agree that he's earned his spot in history.

I'm grateful to be able to witness the good and the bad that came with one of music's greatest icons.

Hopefully in death, he has finally found some peace.

.... He has been broke for a long time . ...

Amazing isn't it?

I could live happily ever after with plenty of money left over just on the royalties from the Beatles collection he owned.

Although I don't think I've ever bought any of his music (you didn't have to as it was/is still played heavily on the radio), he was truly a unique talent.   I enjoyed much of his music. His life (and death) just serves as a reminder to all of us. Money and fame don't buy happiness.

I am even more thankful for my very modest life! My heart goes out to his fans and family members.

His performance during halftime at the Superbowl, back in the 80's, had more viewers than the game itself.  Amazing.

Michael at 50, Elvis at 42.

Both revolutionized the music of their day, though Michael had more talent, in my opinion.

I was not a fan of Michael, but there can be no denying the impact he had on the music of his day.

Both lived tragic lives at the end, and their lifestyles did them in.  Sad.
