Hi everyone, I wanted some of your advice. My Step brother is an avid fisherman and for his birthday I wanted to get him something related to fishing because he loves it so much. The problem is he has everything! Whats something I could get him that most fisherman wouldnt think about getting? I am talking outside of rods, reels, boat electronics, lures and tackle? And hey, the economy sucks right now (and where we live MI is 50th of 50th) so try to keep it cheap(er)

Thanks!  ;D

Apparel is on sale everywhere. Get him a fishing shirt,

complimentary shorts or pants and a belt. A lot of guys

just don't think about stuff like that.

Here's another idea. Every guy would like a Gerber Multitool:

I have a number of wall decorations that my wife has gotten for me in the past couple of years. Shadow boxes of fake old lures, signs, etc.. Pretty cool stuff for under $20....

If he drinks coffee (or tea, or hot cocoa), get him a coffee mug with a fishing theme. You can never have too many coffee mugs.

My wife bought me an insulated cup at the bass pro in Sevierville TN.  It's a good cup, for hot or cold.

Lucky Craft RC baits are $10 right now

A couple lap dances at the local strip club.

A nice rod rack.

A free membership to BassResource.com

Some of Burley's unidentifiable home made trail mix (sht's the bomb)

Some of Muddy's meatballs. (haven't had any yet but hear they are straight up bad to the bone)

X2

Most anglers will most likely spend their $ on tackle or misc things for their boat, never really considering clothing.

Wait a minute, What fisherman that you know "HAS EVERYTHING." I guarantee you, if he was to walk into a Tackle Shop he could find a hundred things he needs badly.

You want to give him something he'll be guaranteed to like?

A gift card is the way to go.

That's what I get from my wife and daughters.

Please, please don't buy me clothes.  Some folks would be thrilled, I wouldn't.

You should know how your brother feels about clothes.  If he is a clothes horse, then clothing is a fine choice.

Some frown on gift cards, or consider them crass, and that is fine.  For years my wife frowned on gift cards.  She felt the time spent selecting just the right gift was as important as the amount spent.  It wasn't just the gift, it was the thought and effort that went into its purchase.

But a card is the one sure way of getting him something he likes.  He sure won't use it on something he doesn't like.

Agreed! My wife bought me a Gerber a while back. I can't tell you how many times it's come in handy.

Amen to that. My wife gave me one for a gift years ago and it's the greatest tool I've ever had. That one-handed operation is excellent for a fisherman. (Hands above leatherman type tools)

But, chances are, if he's hardcore, he's probably already got some type of pliers.  I'd go with a gift card, or, if he's got a porch/deck without much bling, one of those bass thermometers or antique fishing signs are neat.  My bass thermometer blew off the porch wall recently, and gee, I'd sure like another.  :'(
