Korea's threat of "We'll wipe out"  U.S.

Its the boldest comment I can remember from any country toward us? I don't think the Cuban missle crisses got that verbal?

Anyway this Pyongyang is a bit shy of a brick load I think or should I say IMHO

Yeah, they have been threatening us a lot lately. They're supposed to be testing another long range missile around the fourth of July.

Being threatened with annihilation by North Korea?

Please.

The Cuban missle crisis was about the Soviet Union.  A very credible threat indeed.

North Korea is dangerous, but I wouldn't miss American Idol over it.

We know where all their missile launch sites are thanks to our satellites, and we have the full capability of wiping them out. I just don't understand the complacency we're showing.

Step 1. Dear N. Korea, you crazy mofos: Stop firing missiles and cease your nuclear ambitions by such and such date or we will annihilate you.

Step 2. Once they ignore us, we bomb all of the sites and get rid of the threat, or at least show them that we're not girly men, to quote Ahnold.

Please tell me if I'm missing something. They may not currently be a direct threat to us, but they are a direct threat to my brethren in Japan, one of our closest allies, and obviously to S Korea, and they could become a direct threat to us in the future if we continue to be complacent and "diplomatic".

Not to get all Political, but I'm watching Obama's move closely. One of the biggest reason why he was voted in was to stop or slow down any wars that people claimed "bush" got us into.

I'm not taking too lightly on N.Korea's threat...They are one country that could hurt us more than any terrorist threat could.

all north Korea wants is more money.

things are always going on behind the scenes and since china is involved, i don't see the north Koreans attacking anybody.

i am sure we know all about their missile capabilities so please don't concern yourself with a war.

the north Korean leaders are crazy but they are not stupid.  :D

The problem is not North Corea trying to build nuclear weapons, what are they going to do? build a Fat Boy grab a million north koreans and cast the bomb towards the US ? the real issue is them developing nuclear weapons and selling them to them islamic fundamentalist with s*t for brains terrorists.

Situation that 's getting frightengly close with another US allie, Pakistan, it already has nuclear weapons and the taliban is taking over the northern part of the country, if that situation is not properly dealt with before it happens then we 'll get just what we need, terrorists with nuclear wepons.  >:(

North Korea is nothing more than a pizz-ant little nation with a little pizz-ant leader suffering from megalomania. He likes to rattle his non-existent saber in hopes that the international community will pay extortionate sums to keep his finger off of a non-existent trigger. He's just a pizz-ant and one of these days one or more of the real powers in this world is going to get tired of his crap and stomp all over him. I hope it will be China, but any of our allies could do it single-handed.

IMO Raul is right on the money.  Since 1952 the US has been avoiding another confrontation with N. Korea, they know it's a war that they may not win without total use of nuclear weapons.  N. Korea has a huge  well trained well trained military.

India and Pakistan is a real problem, both are allies and they hate each other.  Maybe the best course of action is to stay on the sidelines for a change.

Just the idea that if everyone minds their own business we will have no problems. My interpretation anyway....

I think it was more about colonial ventures or foreign interference in our hemisphere than outright attacks but I don't think anyone can really mind their own business anymore. All countries are too interdependent on each other to just mind our own business anymore...

See I think if you want to take over a country or keep it in checked we don't need weapons for that, just send some of our Fast Food joints over there, that a take care of it ;)

Conflict with North Korea needs to be avoided.

This will not even be close to a Gulf war.     Korea has a Navy, similar to our Coast Guard with limited range, and Subs.   They have AirForce, and ground forces that are well equiped.

US hasn't faced anyone in years who will offer all phases of war.

Why are we so worried about North Korea?   We think if they develope Nuc's, they would sell them to a terrorist cell, someone most likely to use one on the USA.

In my opinion, Koreans would not be doing anything that the USA hasn't done, we have supplied many a groups and countries over the years to fight battles.     During the cold war, we supplied weapons made from other countries to Afghanistan to fight the USSR during the cold war period.   Israeli and Palstine, they would have whipped Israeli's from the strip with out US support all these years.   In the 70's, don't forget Ollie North.  enough said, lots of examples of US support to other countries under the table.

US has never kept is nose out of others business.

Not many can beat us with conventional methods, thus the terrorist ways.     When the bully comes calling, the little guy gets an equalizer, well, US would beat  most countries in a coventional war hands down.

Korea is a dangerous threat that don't need to be bullied.

North Korea giving weapons to terrorists is no where near the same as the United States supplying the Mujaheddin with weapons to PROTECT THEIR OWN COUNTRY FROM SOVIET INVASION. Not to mention, there is a HUGE difference between selling someone conventional weapons and selling someone nukes... And yes we SELL stuff to the Israelis but they are already vastly superior to their neighbors because they have a much stronger economy. I think it's a pretty big assumption to say that without our help they would have been "whipped" considering how badly they have whipped multiple countries at a time. And what about the 1948 Arab Israeli war? How much help could we have been giving them at that time?--and they still defeated almost ALL of their neighbors.

BUT, I do agree with you. We shouldn't be taking NK so lightly. It really would be a nasty conflict. NK has a very strong army. They aren't necessarily modern but they have large numbers and are heavily armed. The one thing that makes them weak is that their economy is so bad that the wouldn't be able to sustain any sort of prolonged conflict. The soldiers would probably end up starving if an opponent just stretched a conflict out. T\
