nickb Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 The new wife and I went to Daytona Beach, Florida. We had a blast!! We went to St. Augustine to climb the lighthouse, and to the San Sebastian Winery. I went surfing for the first time in my life, and was not so good. I could stand up for a second or two. We also went fishing in the Halifax River (saltwater). It was fun, but I didn't catch a thing. We went to the beach, and I got plenty sunburnt, but that's alright. I'm not looking forward to waking up at 4:15 tomorrow morning to go to work. Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted June 15, 2009 Super User Posted June 15, 2009 I'm a month into my marriage and that first week back to work after the honeymoon is terrible. Congrats. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted June 15, 2009 Super User Posted June 15, 2009 Congrats on the marriage. St. Augustine is nice to visit. Didn't you make it to the fort or Ripley's Believe It or Not? Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted June 15, 2009 Super User Posted June 15, 2009 That's awesome, congrats. I am getting married next month (7/25) and the following week will be spent in Jamaica at Dunn's River Falls. I seriously cannot wait. Glad to hear you had a good time. Quote
Super User flechero Posted June 15, 2009 Super User Posted June 15, 2009 Best of luck to you newlyweds! (and soon to be newlyweds!) It was 8 years ago tomorrow, I landed in Belize (with a flyrod in one hand and my new brides hand in the other!!) on my honeymoon... would love to go back again!! Quote

I was there for my senior trip. Ocho Rio, Jamaica. Good times! Hey man, if you see a rastafarian yelling at a stop sign..it best to leave him alone. (not kidding, send me a PM if your interested in some stories.) St. Augustine one of my favorite place in Florida. I've been to lighthouse I was tempted to drop a penny off of the lighthouse after I read the "no penny throwing off lighthouse." ;D I would like to live in Vilano Beach one day. Quote

Like a series of carnival rides, just to get there! Quote
Super User CWB Posted June 15, 2009 Super User Posted June 15, 2009 Being a veteran, my condolences. To quote Rodney Dangerfield, "it ain't all moonlight and canoes - that's in the movies". Enjoy it now and a good rule of thumb. Wait at least a week before leaving her at home and going fishing! Quote
bassin_man Posted June 15, 2009 Posted June 15, 2009 Congrats on the marriage. Mine's coming up soon here this Saturday on the 20th. Then heading to the smokey mountains in TN for the honeymoon. That's awesome, congrats. I am getting married next month (7/25) and the following week will be spent in Jamaica at Dunn's River Falls. I seriously cannot wait. Glad to hear you had a good time. Where you staying at? Went to the Riu All Inclusive at Ocho Rios earlier this year and had a blast. Definitely will be going back sometime. If you plan on doing much shopping in the city or at any small huts not on a resort never pay full price. You can usually get that stuff much cheaper with a little bargaining. Take alot of small bills ( I recommend mostly $1 and $5) as most there whether they carry your bags, drive you to resort/town etc expect a tip. Quote

done Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Congrats man. Mine was 9 yrs ago in about a week from now. Great times. We went north though to Bar Harbor, beautiful place. With all the wedding advice getting thrown around here, I will throw in some. Before my wedding my grandmother took me aside and said "Marriage is the toughest thing you will ever do. Some times there are YEARS that are not good. Sometime you want to give up, sometimes it is heaven, but you need to stick with it. It will reward your with the best years of your life and you will get closer than you ever imagined you could." She was married to my grandfather for 56 years before she passed. During their marriage my grandfather went to war (WWII), they buried the first child and only son at 18 yrs, and raised 2 daughters. He was there holding her hand when she took her last breath. I can only pray in 56 years I will still have my wife by my side. In doing so I will pray you will as well. Wish you and your wife many happy years together. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted June 16, 2009 Super User Posted June 16, 2009 That was a very touching story about your grandmother. Sounds like you received some good advice from a very wise lady, something we can all learn from. Thank you. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted June 16, 2009 Super User Posted June 16, 2009 True story. In the back of the church, right after the ceremony ended my mom turns to my new wife and tells her she didn't think I'd ever get married, that I loved fishing too much to ever be able to get a women interested in me. We spent the honeymoon night in a nice little bed and breakfast in Hermann Mo. and then.... Her decision, we left there and went to Springfield MO, stayed at the Marriot, honeymoon suite and spent 2 days shopping at BPS. 8-) Good luck in your new life together. Quote
