Super User Sam Posted June 14, 2009 Super User Posted June 14, 2009 Hey Other, There are reasons to fingerprint individuals. First, it is a safety measure, to make sure you are who you say you are. Second, to do a background check to make sure you are not "funny" around children or others and that you do not have a criminal record. Third, insurance carriers like this practice as it helps reduce the risk of a future legal action against their policyholders should someone commit an illegal act against a child or someone else. So you are not the problem. Society, with its allowing perks to be released or crazy judges letting molesters go free, that has caused the need for background checks, motor vehicle driving record checks and fingerprinting.
