Super User CWB Posted June 6, 2009 Author Super User Posted June 6, 2009 Good to hear everyone's opinion and for the most part all are reasonable and fair responses. I expected alot of Red Sox votes due to the number of east coast guys on here. Seems only negative stuff coming from White Sox fans. Aren't they 4-5 games under .500 with their full roster in tact? Don't they also lead the league in being shut out at 9?. I have to admit I am a born and raised Cubs fan first and a Chicago fan second. In 2005, I was cheering the Sox on to a well deserved victory in the World Series. I can guarantee you this - If the Cubs ever do make it to the World Series and miraculously win it, there will be a whole lot of Sox fans that simply will not be able to accept it and be crying in their beer or malt liquor. That to me is the main difference between a Cubs fan and a White Sox fan. Everyone I know was happy for the Sox when they won it all but as I said I know the opposite won't be the case if and when the Cubs ever win it all. ;D ;D JMHO Quote

Super User Muddy Posted June 6, 2009 Super User Posted June 6, 2009 Dont be surprised if they dont do it in the next 2 years. Injuries can happen to other teams, especially in Sept Quote
Super User CWB Posted June 6, 2009 Author Super User Posted June 6, 2009 Like last year, If they are in the hunt at the allstar break and they get Ramirez back, Harden comes back and stays healthy, and Big Z and Bradley stay out of trouble, it will be interesting. If all goes well those up in Milwaukee and down in St. Louis might get more and more nervous as the season goes on. Sooner or later they will get some hitting to go with what has been stellar pitching so far if you don't count a couple of game the bullpen gave away. October is another story. Quote

Fishing Doug Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Cards. Heading to the game tonight. Hopefully we can get a little redemption from the butt beating we took last night. Sidenote: Of course I am biased, but Pujols is one of the most exciting players in the game. Not only that, he is a class act. I have had an opportunity to play in his Celebrity Golf Classic two times. His Foundation raises a singnificant amount of money to help those with Down Syndrome and their families. FD Quote

Super User Gone_Phishin Posted June 7, 2009 Super User Posted June 7, 2009 BTW , my favorite World Series, if the Met's are not in it would be CUBS VS INDIANS They could call it the Heartbreak Series, because 2 of the greatest and most loyal fan bases in the game would be on every pitch, only to have one group disapointed once again "It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." B.Giamatti I've never heard that quote before...beautiful. CWB, I'm in the same boat as Muddy, as far as the trash talking thing is concerned. Ā It's all in good fun. Ā Hating rivals and sports go hand-in-hand. I voted for the Crew, no big surprise there. Ā For the AL, I'm an Indians fan. Ā KC too. Ā I'm happy to see Soria back. Ā He's on my fantasy squad, and I've been getting killed in the saves dept. Quote

GP- That's the reason I posted this, Maybe a tad sarcastic, but all in good fun and knowing there probably would be some good trash talking flying around. Tip of the hat to the Crew- They don't look like they are going away. After watching the Cubs lose 4-3 giving up 4 unearned runs, all I can do is laugh and wait for the IR list to empty. Now the Cards losing 10-1 to the second worst team in Baseball, That's bad. Ā CJ? ;D Quote

Super User CWB Posted June 7, 2009 Author Super User Posted June 7, 2009 That plate ump last night was a hack. Micah's K was a joke. Agreed but umps didn't walk guys, throw wild pitches, and make errors. The little guy at third accounted for all four unearned runs. Hurry Back Aramis. Please!!! 2 homers, both with no one on and one coming after a guy tags up on a fly ball to center and gets nailed at third. 0 for seven with runners in scoring position. Not the best recipe to win ballgames. Stupid baserunning and choking with guys on won't get it done, especially when you are lucky if you score 2-3 runs a game. There I feel better now. Can stop kicking dog. Quote
tallydude Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 I've been a Yankees fan since I was eight, but the wife is a Red Sox fan. She has plans on making the baby a Sox fan, but that ain't happening. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted June 8, 2009 Super User Posted June 8, 2009 I never get in a chest beating match over our Astros or Rangers. Ā Ā They always find away to slide down the standings after the all star break. Ā Been holding my breathe, Rangers are off to good start. Ā Ā Quote

Super User CWB Posted June 9, 2009 Author Super User Posted June 9, 2009 I forgot to mention...not the freakin' Chokeago Chubbies. I was waiting for that GP. ;D BTW. what happened to your Fred Sanford avatar. I miss that. Redd Foxx and Rodney Dangerfield are or were my 2 favorite comics. Still watch Sanford and Son on cable. As for the Chubbies remark: "You Big Dummy. How'd You like Five Across Your Lips" Fred to Lamont almost every episode. I'll come up there and show you the Grady Glide! Quote
