The alcohol is burning your skin and will dry it out even more.   Try Jergens.

Yup.  The words 'moisturizer' and 'alcohol' should never appear together.

Don 't know what kind of monolithic idiot would ever add alcohol to a moisturizing lotion. ::)

Alcohol is a dessicant ! :o

The alcohol is there so that you only get very temporary relief before you become dry again, then apply more cream, so you go through the bottle faster, so you buy more. Maybe?

I have always had dry skin after I wash my face, especially during the winter. All of the lotions I used left my face either greasy or even more dry until I used this stuff. Its great. No girly smell either.

Check it out.

A thread I didn't think I would ever see here... ::)

Yeah, I was waiting for the obligatory "you know how I know you're gay" picture, but it hasn't come yet.

Anyway, shaving always leaves my face really dry and irritated, so my girlfriend got me to start using her face stuff from Clinique (see picture).  I think it's expensive, but she's buys it so I'm not sure.  No weird smell or anything, and the bottle lasts a while.

The only skin care products I use are Dial soap and:

They also make a moisturizer. As a barbershop classic since the 1930s, using it won't make you girly. It's kind of pricey though.

Do these pants make my bass look fat ?

I have had the same problem with cetaphil, thats what my dermatologist told me to use... it works really well.  You know if you deal with really dry skin then this isn't a girly question.  IF I don't you any moisturizer then my exema (I don't know how to spell it, I just have it) will go hay wire.

An earlier post got me thinking... after a quick google of a few of the name brands (cetaphil, jergens and lubriderm), ALL of them contain one or more of the following:

Cetearyl alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol or Benzyl Alcohol

Couldn't find the purpose of the alcohol, but I wasn't willing to read very much either.  ...lol

Those 3 alcohols are all really fatty acids.

Cetyl alcohol is used as an emulsifier to thicken everything up. Makes it that creamy texture.

Benzyl alcohol can be used to help keep the bacteria out of the products.

Cetearyl alcohol pretty much serves the same purpose as the cetyl alcohol. These 2 are basically used in the formulation of these products.

Also, unlike rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) these shouldn't dry out the skin.

The same one who made a cough suppressent/expectorant!

Why would they want you to get over the dry skin? You might quit buying their product.

What is that used for?

Anyone have a good remedy for psoriasis that doesn't cost 20k or that insurance will cover without basically taking chemo pills?
