hawghunter1744 Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Anyone here use the fish attractant MegaStrike. I've read about it in several articles and heard of it from some people. Does it work? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 16, 2008 Super User Posted June 16, 2008 MegaStrike is very popular as both an "attractant" and lubricant. The consistancy (Vasoline) makes this product very user friendly. I believe bass may hold a soft plastic a little longer. An application is similar to the slime coat on a baitfish and is formulated to appeal to bass. Another reason this product is recommended by many swimbait fans is its lubricating ability. By coating a lure with MegaStrike, it tends to slip through the mouth of this fish making hook-ups easier. 8-) Quote
Gr8wall Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 if anything, it gives me more confidence in the plastic im using. the only downside of it imho is i forget and leave it uncovered lying on my tackle bag and it turns into liquid leaking out everywhere. Quote
Teria Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 I don't know if it's all in my head, but I think it's awesome stuff! I would defiantly recommend using it. JMO, Teria Quote
Bobby Uhrig Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 SAVE YOU MONEY AND TAKE UP GOLF!!!! The stuff dosent work- Its tournament time!!! Quote
CJ Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 SAVE YOU MONEY AND TAKE UP GOLF!!!! The stuff doesn't work- Its tournament time!!! HUH? Anyway, it's good stuff. I have been using it on all my plastics since early spring. I'm addicted and I think the fish are too! A little testimonial (I'm in no way affiliated with Megastrike): I fished a tournament earlier this year. It was a flippin' bite I was on. I noticed the fish wouldn't hold on to the lure very well. I started using Megastrike and started hookin' up! While I was standing in line with a 16 lb. 4 oz. sack of fish, my buddy walked up and said,"don't tell me you caught those flippin! I got bit but they just kept spittin' it out". 8-) CJ Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted June 17, 2008 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted June 17, 2008 I have used it for over a year and love it. Plus one tube last a long time. It is really good for keeping you soft plastics from sticking in the grass when flipping. Quote
Super User Sam Posted June 17, 2008 Super User Posted June 17, 2008 Nice try, Bobby. Why not tell the guys to leave all of the spinning stuff home, too, as it is tournament time???? But the product does work. I put it on crankbaits and they stay "slippery" all day. Hey, I bet I could sell it for another use, too!!!! ;D Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 17, 2008 Super User Posted June 17, 2008 Sam....Let's not go there.... : Quote
Chad. Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Hey, I bet I could sell it for another use, too!!!! ;D LMAO Quote
Zel Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Yeah it helps catch bass and allows my plastics come through the weeds easier, but it can be a pain in the butt. We get to the lake at 6:00 am after a 45 minute drive, and realize I forgot the key to the lock for the boat moored there. Knowing the park office opens at 8:30 am and they have a copy of the key, we decide to fish the bank for awhile. I open my brand new tube of Megastrike (first tube lasted us all last season). The top of the tube falls on the ground and rolls into a snake or chipmunk hole near a boulder, and you can't even see it because the hole is so deep. Then when you finally get out in the boat and the temps get up to 95, that stuff becomes really soft. And without a lid you have to be careful where you put that stuff so as not to get it all over anything and everything. And finally that evening realizing that no lid from any tube you have the medicine cabinet will fit it... yeah it can be a pain in the butt. Quote
kms399 Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 I really like it but i am out and no place around here sells it any more. has anyone noticed that they catch more muskies when they use this stuff? my home lake is stocked with muskies and after fishing it for 8 years I had never caught one, then I found mega strike and I caught 13 that year coincidence? I have since ran out and I have yet to catch one in that lake. Quote
Brian_Reeves Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Sam....Let's not go there.... : He was talking about bicycle chains. ;D I have one tube of mega strike that I "borrowed." It is working, so I haven't finished "borrowing" it yet. I'll be buying more once I'm done "borrowing" it. Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted June 17, 2008 Super User Posted June 17, 2008 Grade A product. Any of the positives replied here I will second. I also never go without it when fishing in the dark. Quote
Davis Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Still waiting back on Bobby to give me the difference between the original formula and crawfish formula. Obviously there is one difference but was wondering if there was different properties to it as well. Anywho...been using the crawfish megastrike and where I notice it the most is when using it on my jig trailers. Like CJ said....when there spittin the bait, it's usually because I forgot to put megastrike on. Once I slab some and rub it around on my trailers....the fish pretty much swim off with the jig in there mouths. Much better hooksets with that extra time. Two thumbs up from me! Quote
Bobby Uhrig Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Davis, The only difference between the original Mega and The Yamamoto Mega is that the Yamy version was supposed to go to Japan. They said they wanted a crayfish type because the Japanese think the crayfish would be prevalent there .Sales wise also-I did not want to use any type of artificial crayfish like the ones being used in just about all of the "CRAWFISH" type attractants. They have no food value to the formula-just an artificial scent or essence. I used real crayfish in there. Its really the amino acids that the fish are holding on to. I am right now maKing a batch of new goo- This is the strongest most potent Megastrike I have ever created. It will be available in a few days. As for the huys that say]They just swam off with it- I LOVE THAT-good solid hooksets. The best is when you pitch a bait into heavy cover and you pull up and then they pull back- then you dot their eyes. Quote
Davis Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 Thanks for the response Bobby. I know the crawfish scent works great in my local creek for smallies. Quote

He puts Mega Strike in his bag of plastics. This saves him the time of putting it on each one. Just squeeze it in the bag and rub them all together. This should save you time and keep it from getting all over everything. Since the lid is missing. Teria Quote
soccplayer07 Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 great product. better than most in terms of ease of application. Quote
mike bat Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 i have 2 tubes ,, lost bolth lids ... i still just keep em in the tackle bag ... when i need a dab ,, i squezz it out ... Quote
Redtail Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 I use it for 2 reasons. It gives me a bit more confidence that the fish might hold the bait a little longer. Also, it will mask any other smell you might have gotten on your hands which would then get on the bait, like gas, oil, sun block etc. Quote
Bobby Uhrig Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 The problem with Megastrike is it lasts way too long- Over 50% of our sales come from tubes blowing out of the boat at 70MPH- fishing friends stealing their tubes and the caps being lost- HMMMM great marketing- Actually guys I am looking at new tubes as we speek. I think I am going to go with the flip top style-. They are more expensive but what the hell. happy customers= priceless Quote
Davis Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Just out of curiousity how are you all losing your caps? Quote
Zel Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 I think I am going to go with the flip top style-. Yeah Baby! Quote
