I am not a big baseball fan, but at least I know who this guy is.

Apparently, he is being suspended for 50 games for a positive test with performance enhancers /

An hypothetical question:

Which you prefer ?

Being an artificially enhanced athlete or not have your balls shrunk to the size of a raisin ?  :-?

Don 't know about you but I like my balls the way they are.   ;)

Obviously, Manny was not thinking at all.

I'm tired of steriods and baseball.    How about a new rule, cheat and your banned for life.   I think the rest would take care of themselves.

This statement could have only been made a few thousand times in his career.

A nut examination could shed some light on the subject.  :D

There is one big difference in football and MLB.     MLB has been trying to cover this crap up for years and years.   No testing, and they didn't want to test cause they knew the outcome ahead of time.

NFL hasn't needed congress to govern them like MLB has.

Texas High Schools have manadatory testing in place.    How many other states can say the same.    Not random, but mandatory testing for all HS athletes.

     Muddy,

as for the NFL, I was aware of that abuse as well.     Lyle Alzado put that spot light on alot of teams in that era, the 70's due to his untimely death.

Its never talked about, but check out how many of the starter from the great Steelers era are alive from that offensive line.    And their deaths just didn't happen, they've been dead for along time, way before they hit 50.

So, yes, I have been aware of the problems in the NFL.

The problem is, the NFL hasn't been in the news for the last 5-7 years with the same on going investigation of BALCO and Barry Bonds.

I agree with you wholeheartedly Matt about MLB, but the powers to be in the NFL, have suppressed dislosure of steroid use as well. The reason for all the untimely, as you put it death from the 70's were the very high doses taken in those days. NFL will eventually face the music, everybody gets a chance. The NFL/College  football insult every fans intellegence with claims they are clean.  Most High School baseball programs are clean , I am talking big time sports here.

The man had a personal health issue.

The doctor gave him the drug to help correct the problem.

The drug is on the banned list.

I don't care about the drug.

I want to know what the personal health issue was.  ;D   ;D   ;D   ;D

P.S. I would have thought penicillin would have corrected the problem.  :D   :D   :D

You would think that MLB would have doctors on the payroll that know what can be subscribed.

Going to personal doctors and being prescribed banned substance is becoming old excuse fast.  ED is no excuse.

Arguing the semantics of steroid use at the pro level, is an exercise in futility.

When big money is involved, they're all gonna try their best to gain that competitive edge.  The facts around the obtained "edge" can be picked to pieces.

I'm starting to loathe all the "big time" sports.

I thought the same thing when I first heard the line about a "personal health problem."  I keep waiting for someone to tell me it's "just Manny being Manny."

I have gotten to the point where I just don't watch any sports with the exception of NASCAR and that's just a reason to doze off in the LaZBoy.  I would rather be doing something than watching someone else do something.  That's why I fish and have too many hobbies.

.

If you think that's bad Matt: of the 103 who tested positive,73 are still on the active rosters of MLB. The union head mook Fehr and the Owner, oppsss excuse me!!!!! the commish Selig have both ordered supression of these names.

I stayed with this game after the Dodgers left Brooklyn, the mound was lowered in response to great non steroidal pitching by Kofax,Gibson and Ford. Then came amphetamines, the live ball, the strike, Willie Mays, of all people being banned from baseball because he had the nerve to be come a pitch man for Vegas IN HIS RETIREMENT,the strike zone wider than my ex mother in laws butt and pitchers being tossed for throwing (NOT HITTING ANYONE) inside.

Pete Rose broke a rule, HE DID HOWEVER BET ON HIS OWN TEAM and because Selig wants to preserve the sanctity of the game he has banned him for life. This guy should have a whole floor named after him in the hall.

I guess steroid induced offense, which makes for good TV and action is not something that will hurt the SANCTITY OF THE GAME

Until they take all these records away from these &^@#!#*! and Fehr and Selig are gone I am done with MLB :'(

That's ridiculous it was all tainted! As much as I hate the Yankees Mantle and Maris was far better and REAL!!!!!!!!!!

Why do you need a ban substance for baseball? Seriously.

To run faster and out run others?

To Jump higher than everyone else?

To last longer, so you have more minutes in game?

To have the smallest balls in the locker room with the biggest arms?

The only thing I can see is a strength increase and if you want that, get your lazy butt in the gym and do some weight training. If you can't hit a curve ball, roids ain't going to help you. It's a skill.

Baseball players are definitely overpaid and lazy. With the amount of money they make, I thought they would at least hire someone to help parts of their game they need helping.

Roids + baseball = joke.
