PooNug Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I was wondering what people know about using jig and pigs in lakes with no crawfish. I've heard great things about jig and pigs but i've never tried em because of the simple fact that the lakes where i fish don't have crawfish. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted June 13, 2008 Super User Posted June 13, 2008 Fish have no reasoning power. If it moves they eat it. Give the jig and any kind of trailer a try. Quote
Big-O Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Fish have no reasoning power. If it moves they eat it. Give the jig and any kind of trailer a try. My sentiments exactly! All bass, did I say all bass, if I didn't say all bass I meant to say all bass will fall for the irresistible, delightful and subtle qualities of the Jig'n'Pig. In fact, I gotta go fishin', see yall later. Big O Quote

BassFishingMachine Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 The local ponds I fish really don't have many crawdads.. I'll see maybe 1 a year if any at all. The jig works amazing for me, put the time in to learn it by fishing it, you won't be sorry. Wether theres crawdads or not in the water your fishing the jig will work.. I guarantee it. Quote
sal669 Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 If you don't see crawfish it doesn't mean they are not there !!! There are lots and lots of species of crawfish spread preaty much all over the country; some prefer rocks, some clay banks, some live in weeds; some live shallow some go deep. Check with your local natural resource department, they should be able to bring light on this issue. And by the way, J&P works everywhere... Quote
SimonDM17 Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 I've heard white jigs can be pretty effective too, if you don't want to go for any crawdad-imitating colors. Quote
CJ Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 If there wasn't any crawfish in the water then they would be a delicacy to the fish. Which as I understand it, they are anyway! Quote
Brian_Reeves Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Most of my jigs are sunfish colored and tipped with matching, action trailers. Just because a jig can be a craw imitator, doesn't mean it has to. I rarely use craw colors on jigs. Quote
Justin Mahaney Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 I think everyone should have a black and blue swimming jig in thier tackle box ;D Quote

tyrius. Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 That's surprising, I'll have to give it a try! Harshman had a good bluegill colored jig posted here http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1213273001 Quote
Justin Mahaney Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Hole hopping weeds with the bluegill colours? or just swimming it along edges? Quote
