Super User fishfordollars Posted April 29, 2009 Super User Posted April 29, 2009 Due to the pig flu the state has cancelled all UIL school activities until May 11. This includes any and everything reguarding outside activities. This includes band, choir, sports, track, everything. We have a few cases around the state, but I was not aware it was this serious. Super User grimlin Posted April 29, 2009 Super User Posted April 29, 2009 I'm worried about my parents and the rest of my friends and family down there. Quote
Captain Obvious Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 There is nothing to be worried about! This whole thing is being blown out of proportion by the media. There are only five cases of this flu and even then they are just "flu like symptoms" and those cases are doing very well and the are expected to recover 100% You can rest easy nothing is going to happen. Capt.O Are you actually listening to the news or are you just making all of this up? http://abcnews.go.com/Health/SwineFlu/story?id=7456439&page=1 In the United States, the swine flu virus has spread to 11 states and infected 94 people, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Oh and hopefully you can pass your info on to the parents of the 23 month old toddler who died in Texas. They'll be happy to know that the kid is expected to "recover 100%" : Quote

Capt.O He's right, unless it's one of YOUR family members. As for me, I'm paying close attention to what the "medical experts" are saying , not any unqualified questionable characters " AN OUNCE OF PREVENTION IS WORTH A POUND OF CURE ! Quote
Super User burleytog Posted April 30, 2009 Super User Posted April 30, 2009 All about 'making' news. Hysteria sells advertisements. Quote
Super User Sam Posted April 30, 2009 Super User Posted April 30, 2009 The toddler came across the boarder from Mexico and was sick when he arrived in the USA. Any flu must be taken seriously. The swine flu is a rough one and although we are getting prepared to handle it in the USA, others around the world are in peril. Let's hope this flu goes away without leaving a catastrophic wake.
