What ever happened to Orlando Wilson?  He used to have a show I would watch back on TNN Outdoors in the 1990s and I even looked up info on him and can't find out anything.  Any info would be great.  Thanks.

I remember that show, was pretty informative. It seemed like he always was using a Rattle Trap for his fishing. Anyway I havent heard anything about that host in years. Is he still alive? wasnt he an oldtimer back then?

I was thinking the same thing the other day!

I liked his show because it seemed like he was always fishing the same waters you and I would fish.  No private ponds or gimmiks on his show.

I had the pleasure of spending time with him fishing many years ago and can say without hesitation that he is a great guy. My family lived in Ga in the 80's and early 90's and he would travel from Winter Haven Fl to Athens Ga and spend the weekend fishing our private lakes and going out to dinner.

My father told me when I asked about this post and he told me that it was due to marital is itsues, Thats all I will say about it.

I remeber when I was in my early teens he would send us boxes upon boxes of fishing tackle, better than christmas if ya ask me!

It was another fishing show, man, we will take what we can get. He looked like he was 5' tall. It doesn't matter how tall one is, but he looked funny with a flipstick. I liked him. I once was going to try and count how many times he said  ..a...a....a..  but gave up after the first half of the show.

I use to love it as a kid, great show.  Anyway, I don't know if this is true or not, but I remember speaking with a guide as a kid on the Big "O".  He basically said Mr. Wilson did not earn his stripes in the fishing world. He married into money and daddy's ittle rich girl paid the way in for Orlando.

I remember being taken back with the news, cause I really liked his show and thought no way, the guys a shame? Not a real tournament angler! Say it isn't so  :(.  Please someone clear the air on this so I can resume a normal life  ;D

Who says you have to be a winning tournament angler to host a fishing show? :-?

As far as his show, I could give or take it. I always liked Fish Fishburne's "Go Fish". I can't believe it didn't last very long, but "Beat Charlie Moore" is still on ESPN today.

Seems Orlando Wilson is now a Banker!!

http://www.northsidebankga.com/a_off_dir.htm#orlando

Early in his career, Mr. Wilson became involved in land development and the construction industry. Beginning in 1975, the focus of Mr. Wilson's career turned to mass media pursuits including print media, television production, talent management, and hosting television programs. From 1975 through 1980 he was the publisher of two outdoor magazines. Following that, Mr. Wilson went on to host his own local and later national fishing program which ran until 2000 when he retired as a television personality. Mr. Wilson sold his production company to a national cable television network in 1996. Following the sale of his television production company and his retirement as a television personality, Mr. Wilson again turned his full time attention to real estate investment and land development. Mr. Wilson played an instrumental role in the organization of North Georgia National Bank, now Bank of North Georgia. He served as a director of the Bank until it was sold in 1997. He is currently chairman of NorthSide Bank, Adairsville, Georgia and its holding company NorthSide Bancshares, Inc. Mr. Wilson is also a director of Bank of Ellijay, Ellijay, Georgia, CreekSide Bank, Woodstock, Georgia, and WestSide Bank, Hiram, Georgia.

Well...you definitely were misinformed. I hope your guide actually knew something about fishing and hopefully you made it a good trip. 😁 Neither of my parents came from money.  As a matter of fact, the opposite is true.  My mother’s father was a Baptist minister at a small country Church in Suches, Georgia, and my grandma was a homemaker.  They played in a blue grass band around the north GA mountains.  Country folks.  You may resume your normal life now😜.  Follow Orlando’s page on Facebook....Fishin With Orlando Wilson.
