My Girlfriend was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday for shortness of breath and dizzyness. She was released on Friday but while she was there she had to have a biopsy on her Thyroid. The biopsy came back and they said she has cancer. She has to have her Thyroid removed. She is also 16 weeks pregnant with our first baby boy. This is all too much right now.

Easy to cure this type of cancer.

Friend had it and surgery removed it successfully.

Another friend had it and she is doing great although she is a pain in the donkey on a good day.

Everything will be back to normal after surgery.

Now, with that said, marry her!!!!!  :D

Ditto with Sam. Thyroid cancer is highly curable. In fact, I think it's the most curable type of cancer there is, next to some minor types of skin cancer. I think cure rate is just a tad under 100%. There are some ladies at my job who have had their thyroids removed many years ago and they are all fine. I do think they have to take some kind of medication to regulate their metabolisms. That's not so bad, though. About a month after that baby comes, and you've only had an hour of sleep in that month, you're going be ready for that woman of yours to be taking another kind of pill for the rest of her life, if you get my drift ;) ;D.

And here's something a little bizzare. And I can't back this up with proof, but I swear, and the women I know swear, that after they had their thyroids removed, their skin improved. I know two ladies well, both of whom have incredibly smooth and blemish free skin. (No, I haven't seen them nekkid). But they both swear that their skin got better looking after they had their thyroids taken out, and they swear other women they know say the same thing. They say they were told that once their bodies started getting the correct level of hormones their thryroids weren't producing, their skin became dramatically better.

My mother in law just beat cancer - the last tests showed it was gone. She's 76 years old. It was not an easy fight, the chemo treatments were downright brutal. But she did it.

Best wishes to your girlfriend. From what the other guys have said, hopefully she'll get through this OK.

My mother had her thyroid removed. They didn't remove it for cancer, but found a tiny bit in it after removed. Surgery was a piece of cake. Everything will work out. Prayers sent!

Just had mine out in January. It depends on type of cancer as to its curability. There are two that are very curable and two not so curable. There is much on the internet to help understand her problem, that fully covers the four types of cancer.

Of great importance is dealing with a surgeon that does a lot of these procedures as the thyroid and the vocal cords are involved with each other as is the artery that supplies blood to the parathyroid.

For many the operation is done on an outpatient basis, or very limited hospital stay.

She will definitely feel better after the surgery when they get her thyroid meds figured out.

Good luck and God bless.

Will pray for you, your wife, and your baby boy.  The good Lord will take care of you...you can bet on that.  Cancer has no chance against prayer here!

Good luck and prayers sent. I had my Thyroid removed 5 years ago and all is well. She will be on Synthyroid for the rest of her life but all should turn out well.
