=Matt 5.0= Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Nice, instead of the hitch breaking, the frame broke! Love those GM trucks! Where's Howie Long? What a tool. Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted April 19, 2009 Super User Posted April 19, 2009 Howie better bring some tools to get that thing right again.. Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted April 19, 2009 Super User Posted April 19, 2009 Thats special right there. Quote
Eddie Munster Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Thanks for the laugh Burley..... ;D Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Toyota, whatever brand had nothing to do with the stupidity involved there. He'll probably be a Darwin Award winner before too long. : Howie is a tool though. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted April 19, 2009 Super User Posted April 19, 2009 Not surprised, pickup isn't designed for that kind of hauling. Trailer too low and tires too small, needed MH duty tractor with split axle and a flatbed trailer Quote
Daniel A. Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 ...at least it gets better gas mileage than Toyota and doesn't have hand warmers in the steering wheel like Dodge... ;D Quote
SenkoShawn Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 actually if they had the log centered on the wheels and not all the way upfront i wouldnt doubt it would of actually held it. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted April 20, 2009 Super User Posted April 20, 2009 I can't see the entire trailer but it appears as there is no front axle, without minimal support of a front Axel the front of the trailer would have to sag putting enormous strain. The log is sizeable, how much it weighs I don't know, as I can't see how big the hi lo is. I'm going to give some credit and hope they were at least going to strap it down to prevent any side roll. I don't know anything about pick up trucks, but I thought the hitch was always welded to the frame, not sure why the box was pulled loose, but not my field of expertise. I owned steel hauling tractors and trailers so I know a little something about hauling loads. Looks like in the long run would have been way cheaper to hire a professional to move it in the first place. Quote
Btech Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 How about that Chevy truck? "Like a rock, I was strong as I could be "Like a rock, carryin the weight Like a rock... Kee-RACK!!! ;D Yep Like a Rock! - Stays Still and Cant Move - Got ta Love GM. Quote
Bull Hurley Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 There are more pics in the link that Burley put up. The log is only about 10' long and if they had centered it over the axles and side to side it wouldn't have been a problem. Alomost the entire log is in front of the axles. That trailer has two 3500-4000 lb axles on it and would have held along with the truck. Quote
