I have long since boycotted BPS, but I occasionally receive gift cards for my birthday or Christmas.

For the third time I tried to get a cash reimbursement out of them, and of course was denied. I proceeded to list the ways in which BPS was garbage. In reply to their thanks for my business, I offered the courtesy of informing them that if I had my way, they would never have my business.

So after all of that, I placed an order yesterday. . .

It shipped today! I'm shocked, to me this is the equivalent of seeing monkeys use tools for the first time.

Now lets see if everything is actually in the box ;D

Everything will be in the box.

Everything will arrive on time and in good condition.

BPS and Cabella's are excellent with their mail order programs.

In the Richmond, Virginia geographical area we are blessed with Green Top, Castaways, Gander Mountain and the two Williamsburg tackle shops so for other than Yo-Zuri Ultra Soft Hybrid line we can usually find what we are seeking locally. :)

i love bps. always fast shipping, exactly what i wanted, and decent prices. dont know where u got ur negative info from.

You may have a good store or been lucky with them to date. Historically, I used to love BPS, I still do go there as they have stuff that sometimes I cannot get anywhere else in this area. However, when I can go elsewhere I can almost always get better prices at some other stores, the service though I have had extremely mixed results, I have gotten some absolute "winners" have had to deal with there and after those experiences I was not anywhere near ready to go back.

So that being said I can see why a lot of folks have not so favorable opinions of them here.

Because of the distance I have to travel to any store I use the catalogs a lot.

I like the stuff I get from BPS, but I wish they would offer shipping options on ALL the stuff. I hate it when the ship it through the U.S. Post Office. I think "Newman" from "Seinfeld" supervises all BPS shipments. Slow ain't the word. I know I have the options on overnight or the two day thing, but I would like to get regular ground on UPS or FEDEX.

I just hope I'm not told of the second coming by the USPS

don't get me started, all I can say about my experiences with bps is that I only order from them if its my last option.

I ordered from them last winter and it was a $200+ tackle order. I got an email confirmation on the order then a couple of days later they emailed me saying some of the stuff was on back order. Some came on time..then a little more came some time later...then some more came in a couple weeks...you get the point. Four deliveries later I had all my stuff...glad it was winter and not mid season for me...I'll stick with TW from now on!

Never a problem, excellent customer service and knowledgeable staff (at least where I go ). The saltwater equipment selection is fairly decent, but would like to see a better stock of terminal tackle and saltwater spoons and jigs. Not bad for a big box store.

BPS has always taken pretty good care of me. Although I usually get put on hold when I call BPS, while with Cabelas, it's almost a direct connect, right off the batt, every time. Also, I find Cabela's items to be "in stock" just a little more often.

Still though, I'd have to give BPS a 9, and Cabelas a 9.5.

Maybe I've just been lucky :-) But being lucky is fine too, right ?

Peace,

Fish

Please tell me that's on a scale from 1 to 100..... PLEASE!!!!!!

I'll never order from them... First order ever I ordered a rod/reel combo.... There were no emails saying they would be shipped separately (Obviously different boxes but at least the same day). After 2 1/2 weeks I got my rod but no reel. The invoice had both on it. After 45 minutes on hold I found out that they were "processing" the reel. I don't understand!!!!! I ended up getting my combo over two different months.... I hate BPS with a passion . <----- that's a PERIOD!!!!! >:(

Had a similar experience as Branuss04. Ordered a rod/reel combo about 3 weeks ago. Got the rods via UPS within 4 days. Took another week and a half to get the reels. I guess the combo part only applies to the fact they sell them together, not ship them together. Not a terrible experience, but they definitely could let you know up front that they are shipping them via two different methods. Rods via fed ex/ups and then the reels via USPS. The worst part was that my rods came from Missouri (a 15 hour drive for me) and were here in 4 days and the reels came from Detroit (a 2 hours drive for me) and took 2 weeks to get here. Go figure.

BPS's shipping has slowly degraded into a farce. I've been ordering from BPS for 20 years and they used to be great.

My last order shipped pretty quickly, but they managed to screw the order total up. Still waiting on a resolution to that one. I don't know why they send an email offering $20 off your next order and then remove that $20 discount when they print the invoice.

I will usually get BPS gift cards for Christmas. I still enjoy being in the stores most of the time but I will NOT order anything from them over the internet. Its more trouble than its worth and the shipping costs are beyond ridiculous. Shipping charges per price of order makes no sense.

Tell me about it, if you order a $200 reel its $15 for shipping, but it can be shipped for $5. Looks like a scam to me. Ill stick with TW for big items and only buy bps if I am in store or I have a gift card.

How about ordereing 3-5 expensive lures and paying 13.00 to have a 4 oz package shipped USPS. You can also get the 2 day shipping upgrade though, but they won't even use vaselline on you for that.

Wow!!! to say the least.... I guess i am fortunate enough to have a BPS within 15 min. of my house!! I've never tried the whole mail order aspect of it, and at this point dont intend too.

I agree that shipping charges are excessive, but BPS Customer

Service is second to none. Although I buy some gear over the

internet, the local BPS gets the lion's share of my business.

I have never had an issue with TW, Cabela's, or BPS.

Actually, I can't recall any issues I have had with any

fishing related companies that have not be resolved

easily and to my complete satisfaction.

Well one good thing about this thread, I just learned about Tackle Warehouse. Never heard of them before. :)

Best tackle company out there. Free shipping on anything over 50 bucks is awesome.
