Hey guys,

It's been a long time since I've been online here, and since I've posted anything.  I'm going to be putting a few reports in the My Tournaments and Outings section of some bass fishing I have done in the past few weeks.

I have been quite busy with finishing up high school.  I am fortunate to have gotten a $1500 Presidential Scholarship to Marshall University in Huntington, WV and combined with the Promise Scholarship I'll be getting for my grades, I'll have a free ride to college.   8-)

Hope to see some new and old faces around the site again!

They sure are!  I'm definitely looking forward to college.  It will surely be a lot better than high school in quality of education, and after the first few years, the people in my field of study will actually care about being there, and not just to screw around.

x2 The education will be better for the most part, you will get the occasional prof who is "burnt". But there will be plenty of people screwing around because mommy and daddy have the money and will pay for whatever when they mess up. College is not what you think. And someone of your intelligence will figure it out quick. A lot of it is still a joke and it is a business more than anything.

I agree but I think it depends on your major. For some majors, college is pretty much just as easy or easier than a challenging high school. For other majors, you are going to learn about a specialized field that will be more difficult than high school like accounting, finance, biology, physics, etc...

Of course it also depends on the college/university. My school isn't a particularly prestigious university but it is pretty selective as far as admissions go and I have had a pretty easy time and I really don't do much work on a weekly basis.

It's great to hear from you Aaron. It's hard to believe that this school year is almost over (six and a half weeks to go for us). I'm sure that you will do well in college, but like others have said, there are still alot of clowns around. You'll have to deal with them for the first couple of years, but by your junior year they have been weeded out for the most part. As I told Hookemdown, it's all about balance. If you choose to party, do it responsibly and in moderation. Activities are important, but don't let them overrun your schedule. Keep your class schedule light at first and then ease into it as you get used to them.

And yes, Sam is very right. It is much easier to get into than out. Keep us posted as how to how things develop.

Aaron, do you have any ideas about what you want to major in?

Political Science, probably.  I want to consider pursuing law school after I get my Bachelor's Degree, and I imagine the best pre law would be poli sci.  I am also interested in economics and criminal justice, so either of those have the potential to be a minor.

I would Minor in Psych or Sociology then if you want to go into law/criminal justice.

do you know what kind of law you would like to practice? I would think poli sci, sociology, criminal justice, or economics could all be good ideas for bachelor's degrees depending on what type of law you want to practice.

Does your school have a plain old "pre-law" program?

If you want to go to law school you should definitely realize that you need to take things seriously from the get-go. I have found that lots of students don't take the gen ed courses seriously and then they end up struggling to bring up their GPA in their last two years. It is much easier to maintain a good GPA in your last few semesters than it is to bring a bad GPA up. The better you do as an undergraduate, the easier it will be to get into a good law school.

X4 I don't even think the education is that much better. I learned more in 2 summers on actual jobsites that I have learned in 15 years of education. This is true with almost any profession.
