Olebiker Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 I am getting totally frustrated trying to work with people in the Miami area. No one seems to come to work until the middle of the day. They seldom answer their telephone, and when they do they act irritated that you want them to do their job. They promise they will call you back with an answer, but they don't call. When you call them back they give you an attitude like, "What do you want? I told you last week I would call you back." This whole mañana thing is so frustrating when you are trying to get things done. OK, I'm done ranting now. Quote
done Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Never heard of "mañana". But the whole not calling back thing is not limited to the miami area. It is like a plague here. That and returning emails. I will send them so I am not bugging folks calling them on the phone. Does it really take a lot to respond within a day? Even if it is just to say "I am busy right now, I will look into it and get back to you..."? Yeah, I am hijacking your rant....sorry. I feel your pain man. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted April 8, 2009 Super User Posted April 8, 2009 I signed a contract to be on scholarship. The guy that used to monitor my progress in college resign in December, so they gave me a new guy. Well, I sent the guy an email asking about when he needs my new FASFA, he never replied, sent him second email, never replied. I'm thinking I wonder if he remembers I have contract with his people..Finally third email I ask him what his new contact information (I had his number, but I want see if he reply) he actually sent me his number on 3rd email, but didn't bother answer any of my serious questions regarding my scholarship and FASFA. okay, So I called him and explain him my situation and that I want take summer courses to knock off some hours and get more credits. He said "let me talk to my supervisor and I'll call you back." This was on Friday, and today is Tuesday, he hasn't call me. I wonder if he knows I can get him in world of trouble since we have contract agreement... Olebiker, I feel your pain. > Quote
Super User Sam Posted April 8, 2009 Super User Posted April 8, 2009 Olebiker, Good post. I'll reply to it next week. Maybe. Quote
Fisher of Men Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 A couple of years ago (of course the home construction market was booming then) I tried to get some concrete contractors to come by my house and estimate some driveway re-grading (small, but labor intensive job). After calling four or five different contractors, only one returned my call. After promising he'd be by the next day, he finally showed up a week later. Pretty much by that time, I'd given up and taken matters into my own hands. You'd think in this tough economy, folks would want to earn your business. I guess not. Quote
Super User South FLA Posted April 9, 2009 Super User Posted April 9, 2009 Mañana=Tomorrow for those who don't know. Miami is full of slackers, it may be culture. Unless there is a fiscal incentive tied into the work most of the time you WILL NOT get the work done on time. I am still battling my wood floorer to come back and finish fixing a bad plank, its always this and that. Quote

I was thinking it was some derivation of muchismo that had folks calling late or something. Quote

Super User Sam Posted April 9, 2009 Super User Posted April 9, 2009 makes me wanna puke. i'm trying to refinance my house while the rates are good. I was 'forwarded to a We__s F_rgo mortgage rep a week and a half ago. No response. Sooooo, I logged onto my account and filled out a direct request on monday. The automated email said i would be contacted within 24 hours.............needless to say, still nothing. Pretty crappy when every 1/8 percent is 30 dollars a month, and the rates are going up. > b You needed to call I.O. Silver at Loan Arranger. ;D ;D ;D Quote

Super User Raul Posted April 11, 2009 Super User Posted April 11, 2009 Mañana = tomorrow ....... in the strict sense of the translation, that 's what it means, however and most likely: Mañana = whenever I am willing to. It maybe tomorrow, the next day, a week from now, a month or sometimes never. And if mañana comes from a hispanic then most probably it 's WHO KNOWS ? Your guess is as good as mine. Quote
