Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted April 5, 2009 Super User Posted April 5, 2009 Another upset win for the Spartans!! Falcon Quote
Super User Sam Posted April 5, 2009 Super User Posted April 5, 2009 Yes. I loved seeing the Uconn coach's grand daughter's eyes watering at the end of the game. Almost as rewarding as seeing the Tennessee Vol football fans when the Vols lose or the angry Bama fans when Nickie Satan goes down in flames. I really enjoyed the MSU game and victory. Sorry to say that they will get clobbered on Monday night. But at least they made it to the finals. Quote

Super User Matt Fly Posted April 5, 2009 Super User Posted April 5, 2009 Go Spartans. You couldn't ask for any two better coaching matchups. Roy Williams and Tom Izzo are super coaches. I hope its a barn burner with the capacity of over 70,000, it should be electricity in the air. gotta love March Madness!!!!!!! Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted April 5, 2009 Super User Posted April 5, 2009 Its gonna suck to go all that way, only to be thoroughly embarassed by the heels. Quote
detroit1 Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Sorry 4bizz- better to die LAST, fighting on your feet, instead of whining and going down early...(all of cali's teams) Quote
ring fry Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Go Spartans, but I'm afraid NC will win by 14 with a new NCAA record of 15 flops by Tyler H. 8-) Quote
Super User Sam Posted April 5, 2009 Super User Posted April 5, 2009 Yes! Michigan State is in the finals. No! Michigan State loses to UNC in the finals. Hey, at least MSU made it while Duke and UConn and Pitt and UCLA are no way to be seen. Hope it is a fun game. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted April 5, 2009 Super User Posted April 5, 2009 Don't forget last season, UNC was picked to win last years tournament as well and howed that work out? Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted April 5, 2009 Super User Posted April 5, 2009 Sorry 4bizz- better to die LAST, fighting on your feet, instead of whining and going down early...(all of cali's teams) Ok.... what? University of North CAROLINA There isnt a single California team, in any sport, that I care about. Quote
daviscw Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Don't forget last season, UNC was picked to win last years tournament as well and howed that work out? We Carolinians are all about our basketball. I know several people that bet big money pre-season UNC would win it all. I think they'll do it. I think Hanbrough is a girl, but that dude is hungry. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted April 5, 2009 Author Super User Posted April 5, 2009 It's possible they will lose, however I can name 63 other teams that are not playing on April 6, 2009. Falcon Quote

Super User Root beer Posted April 5, 2009 Super User Posted April 5, 2009 It's possible they will lose, however I can name 63 other teams that are not playing on April 6, 2009. Falcon You have to name 62. Lets make it more extreme and name 55 teams that didn't make the tournament bracket without researching. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted April 5, 2009 Super User Posted April 5, 2009 Since 1939 Teams with the most wins UNC: 1957,74,82,83,93 and 05 Kentucky: 48,49,51,58,78,96 and 98 UCLA: They own the NCAA 11 titles 10 in a 12 year span with 7 in a row 64,65,67,68,69,70,71,72,73,75 and 95 If this makes any of the UNC fans upset, GOOD, go cry in your beer>>> they are about 1/2 as good as the UCLA dynasty, which for 4 years lead in points scored, blocked shots and assists, go look that up. PS I am a St Johns , and Big East fan, I do not identify with feelings of greatness or weakness by how well the teams I root for do, as most teams I root for suck, that's what makes it so much fun I witnessed the UCLA dynasty, it was like watching Willie Mays patrol the outfield, you know you are going to live long enough to see only one Quote

Super User Muddy Posted April 5, 2009 Super User Posted April 5, 2009 Greatness lies in the collected history of a team, let see someone else take a run at the NCAA like they did. Records are accumulated over time and an accomplishment like that will stand the test of time.Who cares what the rest of you think, It is what it is Greatness is not only a contemporary notion,History means something : or idea Billy Martin once said it best If it doenst materr if we win or loose, Why do we keep score Quote
Bassboy15 Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 I think you all are counting them out to early. With just 2 days to prepare for your opponent, it's going to come down to coaching, and who can prepare there team the fastest, and most efficient way. I'm going with the upset Mich St-87 UNC- 83 Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted April 5, 2009 Super User Posted April 5, 2009 Nothing like someone bringing their self righteousness into a thread that has nothing to do with what they are chest slapping about... Quote
Super User Muddy Posted April 5, 2009 Super User Posted April 5, 2009 It ain't self righteousness it is a retort to how much Carolina Fans flap about their squad, a direct rebuttal to that Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted April 5, 2009 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted April 5, 2009 North Carolina's 1,983 victories rank second in NCAA history behind Kentucky. The Tar Heels' 101 NCAA tournament wins are the most all-time, as are their 18 Final Four appearances and 13 No. 1 seeds, while their four championships rank fourth behind UCLA, Kentucky and Indiana. (todays bloomberg.com) Not a bad history if you ask me. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted April 5, 2009 Super User Posted April 5, 2009 Hey Fishin Daddy, Yes you are very correct. Right now they have a great team, and the most underrated coach in the business. I am a bottom line guy, everyone can crow about how many Big East teams have made all the tournaments, yet none of them has made a decisive run at greatness. They had what 7 or 8 seeds this year, and nothing to show for it. With all that KY and UNC have acomplished they do not have nearly the championships UCLA has. Championships spell greatness for teams, seasons for players and coaches and on that UCLA dominates. Quote
