Super User burleytog Posted April 3, 2009 Super User Posted April 3, 2009 Couple of my coworkers sat for their final certification tests last week. I told them both that if they passed on their first try, I would make a 60 mile run to buy them both a Purple Cow (small local drive-in that has an extensive menu) Mike's Intimidator burger. The Intimidator is 1 lb. of ground beef on a 9.5" bun. Cost is $5.99, $7.25 with cheese and bacon. As luck would have it, they both passed the test. So today I made the burger run before work. Spent $40 on four burgers (2 for work, 2 for TheBeast and his brother-in-law). Got to work and the challenge was on. One of the guys didn't want to try to eat the whole thing, so I split it with him. The other guy decided to see how quickly he could eat it. After 35 minutes, this was all that was left. He's been dragging since. I will say this, that may very well be the best d**n burger I've ever eaten. After I ate 1/4 of one, I wanted to eat the whole thing. God help us the rest of the night, there are already noxious fumes rising up and clouding the air. Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted April 3, 2009 Super User Posted April 3, 2009 When I was in Wyoming me and 4 of my buddies had a bit of a tradition going. We would get hammered on Saturday night, wake up around 10, and drive 64 miles one way to Walden, Colorado to have a 1lb Owl Burger at the only restaraunt in the podunk town. Nothing cures a hangover like 1 full pound of greasy hamburger. Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted April 3, 2009 Super User Posted April 3, 2009 Looks like we're going to the Purple Cow this summer for lunch. Quote

That trip to Pal's last summer was the beginning of the end to my diet. I blame you for that. I weighed 213 when I came down there, now pushing 240. Fat boy needs to go on another diet again. ;D Quote
Super User burleytog Posted April 3, 2009 Author Super User Posted April 3, 2009 Sure, blame it on me. I didn't force you to eat 3500 calories in 30 minutes. Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted April 3, 2009 Super User Posted April 3, 2009 Sure, blame it on me. I didn't force you to eat 3500 calories in 30 minutes. We're going back this summer right? That place was killer and I haven't seen a peanut butter shake that comes in a half gallon size since. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted April 3, 2009 Author Super User Posted April 3, 2009 Purple Cow has a large peanut butter milkshake that is around 40 oz. The Pal's large is 32 oz. I got a small PB at the PC today, it was 16 oz. and almost kicked my tail. Quote
Uncle Leo Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 If you dine in the drive back has to be murder. Quote
Olebiker Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Nothing cures a hangover like 1 full pound of greasy hamburger. Those of us who have lived in towns with White Castles (kinda like Krystals, but way better) all have stories of eating those sliders at three a.m. after finishing off a case of Falls City or other cheap beer. 1inStripes Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 If you dine in the drive back has to be murder. Its all drive back at Pal's and Purple Cow around here. They have no "in" to dine in. Its drive thru only and generally both places stay very busy. Another plus, is that both is considered quality places to work. Jimzee you just better hope you pick the right week to come, because the PC's owners shut the place down for a week to take all the employees on a company vacation. Quote

Super User Dan: Posted April 3, 2009 Super User Posted April 3, 2009 Wow. That looks awesome. It's not too expensive either. I've payed that much for a combo at Hardee's that was half that size. Quote
1inStripes Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 The PC does it right too DD. They generally have a combo of hamburger, fries and a drink for $2 still. Their Steak Bombs are good too. Burley, you and Beast need to try the Hawiian Chicken Bomb is really good if you haven't tried it already. Quote
