These are my original custom Ford badges. Of course no matter what color, or styling a Ford truck is, they are always chrome, with black letters. Well, not only would that totally not go with my color and styling, but I always enjoy being the different one anyway ;-)

Oh, so anyway, I sanded, and painted the badges satin black, then got the custom decal inlays from PatriotDecals.com.

Now, this was my first go around for the oval. I thought it came out nice, and matched the color / styling of my truck spot on. Been using it this way for about 5 months.

So then I saw where they would use any text you wanted, on your Ford oval. So, as I thought about it, I decided that I wouldn't want to use anything that didn't start out with an 'F' (in the Ford font) and which was not 4 letters..... so at a glance, someone might not notice that it actually says something other than Ford.....

Then it dawned on me..... Uhhhh.... My nickname for nearly 30 years :)

11b394fe0.jpg

BTW, my paint is called Stone Green...... and yes, I know it's not green :D But it does really shift around from brown, to gold, to charcoal, depending on the lighting.

You guys have all seen my new truck haven't you ? I think it looks perfect with my boat.

1123328b0.jpg

........and I hope you can click on the photo, to see it full length, as this shot, and the one below, are pano's, with my boat behind.

So, does it look better with, or without the camo rocker panels ???

I've got buddies telling me > Dude ! Do it ! That will look bad . ! It's all you !

And then I have buddies telling me > No way ! That would look stupid. Don't do it !

Personally, I think it would look better when the truck was pulling the boat..... but not as good when it wasn't. Hmmmmm.

I actually already have the 3M vinyl Mossy Oak Shadow grass trim kit right here in my closet. Bought it before I even bought the truck. Just have never been able to decide, since I got the truck.....

(oh, not trying to confuse anyone with this shot... the camo is photoshopped)

1142328b0.jpg

Didn't those original chrome badges stand out like a sore thumb ?

Anyway......

Since I'm on the photo kick.

Here's yet another reason I love my trophy Smallmouth lake so much :)

Peace,

Fish

PS, Yes, I know my truck looks like either an Army truck, or a Game Warden truck..... But I'm totally okay with that ;) It's all me, and I love it just the same :)

On the F150 forum, somebody photoshopped one of those big, military, 50 cal machine guns mounted in the bed .....and it actually looked like it might come that way ! ;D

That's a sweet looking rig!  Nice play on the Ford badge.

Awesome looking truck, but I would leave the camo off the truck.

Nice rig. I vote no camo on the truck - subtle is where its at. With the camo, it looks like it belongs to a dude "with a big hat, and no cattle," kind of poseurish. That ain't you, man.

Yeah Man, nice setup for sure . The custom badge tops it nicely.

I began my wrenching career on a fleet of Ford heavy trucks. The word "Ford" was done in individual chrome letters across the grill.

Whiny or pain in the *** drivers got their letters rearranged to "D O R F"

Right on. Thanks guys.

Yea' I kind of lean towards not using the camo on the kick panels.....

But then again, I LOVE the finish on my boat, while a lot of guys wouldn't want their boat painted like that either........

I'll probably just wait 6 or 8 years when the paint is started to oxidize, and clear coat seperating, then just have the whole darn thing wrapped in Mossy Oak Shadow Grass ;-)  LOL

Your truck rocks Chris! The Fish emblem is just too cool! And I love that color!

Yea'.... I was afraid of that.....

On my PC, on this forum, if you click on the photo, it uses some kind of photo viewer, to re-open the photo, that lets you see the whole thing, by scrolling. Not on yours ?

Anyway, here's the URL. You can copy and paste this into your browser; http://www.trophybassonly.com/1123328b0.jpg

.....but then if your PC automatically downsizes it to fit your monitor, it's best to size it back up, and scroll back and forth to see it all.... otherwise you get the "jaggies".

Well thank you CJ :)

Funny you should say it rocks.....

Because with 1400 wts RMS, two 12" subs, two 8" mid-bass drivers, and Polk Audio component mids + highs, yea', it does pretty well :)

I mean, it plays rock, alternative, country, whatever, and it's all good. But yes, I can also play some techno bass tracks with 25hz bass, and you can feel it grab you and shake your insides. (like today on the way home from fishing :)

PS, I think one of the coolest things about my sound system (and I guess this is beginning to be no big deal, to a lot of young guys anymore) is that my deck has a USB cable that ends in my glove box. To that I plug in a tiny little 8gig flash memory chip, which holds my entire music collection of 600 songs, with space for 1000 more ! And its all totally accessable from the deck itself.... Scroll around through song titles, and folder titles. Easy as can be. No more fumbling with CD's while I drive. Heck, no more fumbling with the deck itself. I use the remote, which sits in the cup holder at the end of my armrest :-) No leaning forward... and no wear and tear on the buttons and knobs of my deck :-)

Really like the wheels.  I would have picked the black ones myself.  Truck looks great!!

Very sweet truck!! Now just smoke out the rear tail lights and your done.

Posted

Thanks again guys.

Hey Hawk, I agree smoking the tails would look good.... but I'm already breaking the law with my tinted windows, and {often} my stereo ::)

What I am going to do though, is to get a set of the Harley Davidson edition lights, which have a large portion of the reflectors tinted a little darker.... like smoke over red... kind of black cherry looking, but are still DOT legal.

Oh, and one more thing I need to do... My third brake light... I found one that uses LED's and is mostly smoked, except for the part that points straight back.

And a bunch more stereo stuff next Winter.... full deadening of all the doors, and roof... digital sound processor....

Peace,

Fish

If you find me when you're ready to add on to the sound, I can hook you up on a few different levels.  When you start to look at dampening, check out B-quiet Brown Bread.  Same thing as Dynamat, different color foil,1/2 the price.

and, re-read Brent's (***) post, he can see your pic just fine, I think you missed the joke ;) ;D

Hey LBH, right on. I didn't know you were into car audio too ?

Brown Bread, huh ? I've heard the name, but will research it some more.

Okay, so that one from Brent went over my head  :P My only excuse is, I've got lake water on the brain ;-)

The USB on the deck is the only way to go now.  I will NEVER buy a new deck without one.  It's the coolest invention since sliced bread.  Being able to buy a small flash drive, put music on it, and stick it in your deck is so much better than the MP3 player/FM transmitter deal.

NIce truck man.  No camo on the truck.  It would look good when you have the boat hitched, but the truck looks better without it when you don't have the boat hitched up.  Nice sound system as well.  Polk DB's, MM's  or SR's?

Posted

Hey guys...

1in, my Polks are just the DB's..... but because I have 8" mid-bass drivers (Daytons) I don't have to ask my Polks to get down real low... only playing down to 300 hz or so, and so they play really effortlessly :-) Love the soft dome tweets too.

***, I will look into the halogen backup lights.... Lord knows backing my truck at night with my super dark rear tinted windows in not any fun !

If I could find a Camo motor cover, I'd buy it... and I need a new one now anyway. But as far as covering my Yamaha with Camo, although "we" think it would look cool, I don't think the Yamaha guys that sponsored me would like it so much :-)

Peace,

Fish

Nice ride, Chris!  It's obvious you take as much pride in your truck as you do in catching big mama bass.  I second Falcon's remarks.  The badges are sweet!

Ditch the camo rockers. Youve got a real clean and understated look. Thats sooo much cooler than all the tacky little add on stuff.

Im pretty sure I have taken more stuff off of my truck than i have put on it. No badges, door ding strips, decals, dump exhaust in front of the rear axle, no antenna, no warning decals on my visors and seat belts, hell I ever took both door panels all the way off just so i could flip the door lock slider so that i didnt have to look at that little orange strip while i was driving, lol.

Be careful going through that little I one town on the way to smallie land. Got a window tint ticket there last year.

Since I am hard headed and love my tint, I payed the $140 and kept the tint instead of having it removed and paying the $10 fix-it ticket, lol. But theyll pop you there for sure. I drive through at 6 am in January with the windows down now ;D
