OK now this isnt going to take a genius to solve but i just cant seem to think of how to do it and yes i feel dumb for not knowing.

Equation- For a side job i had to assemble postcards. I did 100 postcard in 30 mins how many seconds is that per postcard?

This is why you dont take a year off of school!! I feel Dumb :'(

30 minutes x 60 seconds per minute =1800 seconds.

100 post cards / 1800 seconds = about .056 postcards per second.

Was the year you take off second or third grade?  ;D

Laugh it up Dan, you failed 4th grade math as well, LOL

The key to the answer is "seconds per postcard."  In other words, "seconds/postcards."

1800/100 = 18

18 seconds/postcard.

Oh, I read it wrong. I thought he asked for how many postcards/second. Even so, it's a simple conversion to get back to what he wanted.

Believe me, I know what you're talking about. The other day I asked me friend what 1800 divided by 6 was. We looked at each other for a second and tried to figure it out. Then when I got it, I was like "why the heck did I need to ask you that?" Sometimes the brain just doesn't work at 100%...

Just poking fun - no harm meant  ;)

How about Binomial Probability Equations. :D I got test this Friday over that chapter. It a lot of fun.

http://cnx.org/content/m11024/latest/

Scroll down until you see "The Formula for Binomial Probabilities"

Standard Deviation and Binomial really makes you think. Go to fast you will accidentally write down or calculate wrong number. :D

It easier than it looks I got an A in that class.

Nothing is more of a pain than limits in Calc. One problem can take up multiple sheets of paper. X! problems can suck too...

Which one did you take? I take Calculus A next semester. My statistic professor told me Calculus A and 1 are two different animals.

I agree. I somehow managed to pass calculus without understanding a darn thing. It is like a foreign language to me.

If we are doing math here someone please tell me how to graph this

x(x-2)/(x+1)(x+1)

No problem for you calculus guys right?

I think it would be a horizontal line that intercepts Y at 1. :-?

what did I get wrong in that post?

Just that you read it wrong.  Again, there was no offense intended.  Though, even if he had asked for postcards per second, I would have flipped the stat, pointing out that seconds per postcard was a far more accessible measurement.

Its all about semantics here.  If you asked someone how fast they were traveling, and they said, "0.0167 hours per mile," you wouldn't know how fast they were going.  I would just say, 60 miles per hour, and EVERYONE can relate.

18 seconds per postcard is easily comprehended, and any improvement can be easily seem.  If he somehow gets this down to 15 seconds per postcard, you can easily see its a big improvement (about 20%).  You don't quite get that comparing .067 with .056 postcards per second.  I deal in statistics every day, and I can't get my head around that measurement.

Anyway, I apologize for rambling on, LOL.

Yeah, I get what your saying and you're right, it isn't a good stat but I just thought that was what he asked for.

Just wait until you get to Differential Equations...Summer semester of 1998.  That was when I decided that I really did not want to be an engineer.

Fishindaddy I got my first taste of calc in high school and it was about that time that I decided that I didn't want to get an engineer degree ether. :)
