sad, senseless and just awful.

Quotes like this confuse me:

the shooting also threatened to add another uncomfortable chapter to the already strained relationship between Oakland's black community and law enforcement, something amplified recently by the shooting of a young, unarmed black man by a white transit officer at a train stop on New Year's Day. In Saturday's case, Mr. Mixon was black, and none of the police officers were.

Wouldn't it be more likely that (if anyone involved was racist) it would be the mass murdering perpetrator, who killed 4 over a traffic stop? I'm sure he had a permit to carry that gun also. ::)Are the officers supposed to say, "hold your fire, we're calling a black officer to participate in the gunfight" as the shooting starts???

The media makes me crazy sometimes.

LMAO AHAHAHAHHA. I don't mean to laugh here, but that a great point! Media are just barbaric people abusing the freedom of speech.

Gotta love the New York Crimes.

"Police officials identified the man who shot the four officers as Lovelle Mixon, a 26-year-old parolee. He was fatally shot by other officers."

Sounds like a very outstanding citizen.

Why was he back on the street? Why are the cops taking the bad rap for this?

Let me tell you something, I am half-black, but the one thing in this world that makes me craziest of all (aside from walmart, which holds a special place in my heart) is people who assume that every injustice done to them in the world is because they're black, when 99 times out of a hundred they are being treated rudely because they are acting like @$$holes. I know racism is still a problem in America in many places, but I am so sick of African americans who attribute every single hardship in their life to racism or the fact that they're black. I don't care if you're black, white, chinese, mexican, obese, gay, left handed or all of the above, you need to take responsibility for you're own actions before you accuse other people of being prejudice. Like I said before, I know racism exists, but you can't attribute every problem in your life to it.

Now the jackass parade begins with politicians beating the gun control drum yet again.

Hey, I'm left handed, and let me tell you, I get discriminated against all the time!  Do you know how hard it is to buy a good set of left handed golf clubs?!?!?

I kid, you make a very good point, one that I try to make all the time.

X2

I wonder why they didn't say what type of gun he used either. Now he was either a very skilled with a pistol or most likely had an assault rifle. Taking out 4 police officers with vests is pretty tough. I am not a gun control guy and think any law abiding citizen should be able to own/operate any commercially available gun. What gets me is that us law abiding citizens who take time and money to get concealed carry or other type of permits are still very susceptible to these types of criminals. Lawyers and bleeding hearts have put the death penalty almost out of use in most states and truthfully that is what leads to these extremely tragic events because of the lack of fear. WITHOUT FEAR THERE IS NO ORDER. My heart goes out to the families of the fallen officers.
