Daniel My Brother Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Don't you hate it when you're watching a quiet scene in your favorite show, then a commercial comes on and practically blows you out of your chair? Networks like CBS know this practice is bad for business and have installed equipment to keep this from happening on their air when possibleothers will follow suit if it means people are tuning out. But one lawmaker in California isn't satisfied. In fact, she's decided the practice should be made illegal. Do we really need to legislate and regulate everything? I'm already holding the remote, I can hit mute, I can even change the channel. I have free will. Here's the articleWhat do you think? http://adage.com/article?article_id=135244 Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 LOL, thats dumb. I hate when that happens though. Anyway. I rarely watch tv anymore that isnt dvr'ed. That way all commercials are FF through. I dont like movies like that either. Music blows out the ear drumbs but you cant hear someone talk. Drives me closer to insanity. ;D Quote

Super User CWB Posted March 20, 2009 Super User Posted March 20, 2009 It's annoying as h*ll and assumes we are idiots when the commercial is louder than the show you are watching. I for one would be for this. Quote

bass wrangler569 Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 "Law maker in California" That about sums it up, Yes they need laws for everything over there. x3 The Peoples Republic of Kalifornia has probably passed more laws in the past three months than the rest of the 49 states have in the last 20 years. Next they're going to claim that the loud commercials are proving harmful to the endangered condors... Quote
Eddie Munster Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 The Dumbing down of America continues.............. They're okay with a PG rated movie having nudity in it or near nudity on tv during the days but heaven help us our lawmakers worry about the volume. :-? Quote

Fish Chris Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 with as many clueless, tactless, unscrupolous idiots as we have in society nowadays, unfortunately, I think the answer is probably > Yes. We do need laws for just about everything, as some people just could not be stopped any other way. Comedian Robert Schimmel was talking about this same thing, and he mentioned that their was actually a law which made it illagal to have sex with dead animals ! I mean come on ! Did we really "need" a law for this ? So then he goes on to do a little 3rd person impersonation, and he says, "Honest your honor, I thought the cat was still alive when I was ####### it ! I wouldn't #### a dead cat ! That would be sick ! {I sensored that myself BTW} Anyway, Fish Quote

paragon Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 I would rather have politicians working on things like that then screwing up the things that actually affect me. Quote
