but this old farmer is at it again, and I just don't think this is called for >:(

Alright, so here's the scoop;

Right before I get to my trophy Smallmouth lake, their is some farmland beside the roadway, with a barbed wire fence dividing one section from another. So, this is not "right" beside the road, but maybe 40ft from it....

This guy is killing Coyotes, tying their feet together, and hanging them from the top of the barbed wire fence posts, to rot, in plain view of passing motorists >:(

Now look, I'm not against hunting. I'm not even against pest control. And last year, I had it explained to me that this is "one possible way" of keeping other Coyotes away from the area. {not sure how true this is, but anyway}

But in any case, although the guy is probably not breaking any laws (IMPO this should at least be a misdemeanor for indecency) wouldn't these dead Coyotes be "just as effective" for scaring off the other Coyotes, if left on the ground, and maybe 200 feet from the road, instead of 40ft ? I'm sure the other Coyotes would smell them from 1/4 mile or more, anyway.

Anyway, I'm sure this farmer would tell you or I, or anyone that said anything, "It's my right.... and you can't stop me.... and I don't care what you think.... yada, yada....".....

But with all of the growing sentiment from anti-hunting, and anti-fishing groups, why add fuel to the fire ?

I mean sure, I could go out and catch a bunch of Carp, cut their bellies open, and display them hanging from tree limbs in my front yard.... I caught em' right ? I can do anything I want with them. But the question is, why would I want to do this ?

Come on man, these were living creatures, and they already paid the ultimate price for bothering this farmer. Shouldn't that be enough ?

IMPO, that farmer needs to get a freaking clue >:(

Okay, I'm better now. Kind of.

He probably does not care about the anti-fishing and anti- hunters, he is only thinking about himself(which is not truly a bad thing) and being able to support himself and his family.

Although he is not hanging a dead deer out on the fence, do you think he doesn't consider that fuel to the anti-hunting/fishing fire just pest control?

I think he has them hanging from the fence posts because he already has posts up and can just hang them up without any extra work of putting in something else to hang them from. :)

Also you hanging dead carp is not the same thing, are you protecting your job hanging those fish up? I assume the farmer is with the coyotes.

Dude you have nothing to complain about, I know a guy who has 50 of those things stringed across his fence line, yes I counted!

Down here in Texas it's looked at as a way to keep the varmints off be they animal or human.

I can't say that I think their right but when you live in the north Texas ranch land area you better get used to it. Some of it, I think is to show off to the world, killing a Coyote isn't easy so when you kill one you naturally want to brag a little.

Just my $0.02

I remember driving by these last year too... I'll have to keep me eye out this year.

I gave some thought to your dilemma and where we live this would be frowned upon.  I know I would never see dead animals hanging from fences in Roseville.  Then it dawned on me.......  the people that live in that general area are just flat out WIERD....  you know what I mean!!!  My old man and I walked into one of the bars and when we walked in it was like watching an old western where the bad guys walk into the bar and everybody stops and watches them..... it's like they sensed we weren't inbred like everybody else  :-?

HAHAHA ;D

I dont have that problem around here. All of the old people would pray for the farmer or the coyotes, not sure which but Id guess not the farmer.

No it don't scare them off. Thats an old urban legend. If they were on the ground they would be scavaged by their on kind, does he have an electric fence by chance? He could be setting them up for a shock.

Other than that its him just doing it for funsy ::)
