Super User SirSnookalot Posted March 19, 2009 Super User Posted March 19, 2009 That is a good article and I'm not surprised at all. Fishing can be done on any budget, probably just as productive. If you're hungry it's hard to beat a cane pole and a box of leaf worms. I see hordes of people fishing the piers daily with a bag of frozen shrimp for 3 bucks.........it's that or they don't have dinner for the family. Quote
done Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Cost was one of the reasons I got my jon boat. I mean the thing take 3 gallons of gas and to use that much I have to run it full out for 8 hours. As long as I do not get hung up to much, I can go fishing all day for <$10 and with the customizations I made to my boat, it is a pretty good time taking it out. When I used to shore fish, I could do it for less than that. On top of that, when you are out on the lake, you are not spending money elsewhere like eating out, or shopping. Quote
Captain Obvious Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 When you think about it fishing can not only be cheap but rewarding Five dollars for bait, catch some fish, Fish Tacos tonight Quote
fatbass Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 While reading the article I kept thinking... What you gonna do when the bait monkey comes for you :( Quote

greatoutdoors Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 I always say to my wife when she goes shopping, at least when I go fishing it barely costs us any money!! Then you aren't doing it right. I do it very right. What are you talking about? I have my boat, all my equipment, lures, etc., etc. I make myself a couple sandwiches, get a few gatorades and I go out and it costs me gas money to get where I'm goin'. Then I catch some bass. Sounds right to me. If fishing is costing you a fortune, then you aren't doing it right. There are guys that spend thousands and thousands a year and catch no more fish than other experienced fisherman that spend a few bucks a day. If you're good enough, you'll get paid for fishing. Now that's really doing it right. Quote
Super User Raul Posted March 20, 2009 Super User Posted March 20, 2009 Dude, Burley means you are not doing it right by telling your wife she going out shopping is costing you money and then comparing it to what costs you go fishing. It 's not what you say but how you say it and what they feel/think about it and most times they are going to take it the wrong way. Quote

I think I take it the wrong way when she gets on my case about going fishing----cuz it aggravates me!! Ha Ha Quote
