Davis Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Ok how do you gies usually rig the buzz frog? I tried to Texas rig it but it kept on turning in the water. So any help? You can T-rig em or Texpose would be the proper term. : ;D Make sure your hook is straight when riggin or it will roll. My experience anyway. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted June 10, 2008 Super User Posted June 10, 2008 you could also try using a hook with a keel weight which will help to keep it upright. Quote
Super User Marty Posted June 10, 2008 Super User Posted June 10, 2008 Not all buzzing frogs and toads are created equal. For the baits I've had personal experience with, the Ribbit doesn't roll over nearly as much as the Horny Toad or Sizmic Toad, presumably because the Ribbit's top and bottom are relatively flat. alabamabassmaster Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 I always fish my Buzzfrog weightless, like this image. Personally, I like to use a Gamakatsu 5/0 EWG Offset Shank Hook. Quote
Jeff C. Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 some frogs.. ribbit & Bobs Buzz,, seem to work well either side up.. Quote
tennwalkinghorse Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 I always fish my Buzzfrog weightless, like this image. Personally, I like to use a Gamakatsu 5/0 EWG Offset Shank Hook. I second that Quote
bowtech_182 Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 With this, rigged weightless. I am going to try a bead in front of it today like the Ribbet package calls for to see if it will help with weeds. Owner 5/0 twistlock hook Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 I like the weighted jerkbait hooks too. Just enough weight to make it run right... Quote
Big-O Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 you could also try using a hook with a keel weight which will help to keep it upright. Please don't use these keel weighted hooks on the Rage Tail Shad and run it like a swimbait! And neither do you want to Carolina rig this same set up and swim it deep over the ledges and humps or on the end or along edges of moss beds. I don't want anyone getting one of their expensive rods jerked out of their hands or straining themselves like pulling a muscle trying to land a bigger fish or more fish than they are use to. ;D ;D ;D Seriously, I have been using them just like this for a long time with great success. Still a Bigbuckifan Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 I'll be sure not to do that BIG-O :) Quote
