atx_newbie Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Well, T.O. is gone from Dallas. So now there are two questions to ask: 1) Where will he end up? True, he can be bad for team chemistry, but he is too good of a playmaker to not play another season or two. My money is on the Saints (because they are a pass oriented team with a very good QB) or the Bears (because they have nothing at the WR spot). 2) The other question is about Dallas' timing on this. Because he's still under contract, they won't be clearing any cap space with the move. So I'm thinking there has to be a deal in the works with Boldin, Harrison, or one of the other big name free agent receivers out there. Otherwise, I can't imagine Jerry letting him go. Quote
Super User Tin Posted March 5, 2009 Super User Posted March 5, 2009 I'm loving it..... ;D 1. I dont think any team will offer him the money he wants and see him not playing next year. Or holding out until some team needs him down the stretch.... Remember who his agent is.... : Quote
basser89 Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I'm glad I heard this on Sports Center this morning! It made my day! I'm glad we got rid of him! IMO, he never measured up to the playmaker status, way too many dropped balls (especially last season). Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted March 5, 2009 Super User Posted March 5, 2009 he's a piece of s*** as a person but some team will probably sign him even though he's got three strikes against him. strike one-----Garcia strike two----- McNabb strike three---Romo Quote
Super User 5bass Posted March 5, 2009 Super User Posted March 5, 2009 I can't imagine Jerry letting him go. He didn't. Jason Witten did. ;D And you mentioned Da Bears.....they need to consider signing a real QB before they go get a 'star' receiver like T.O. He has problems with mediocre QB's. Quote
Super User Tin Posted March 5, 2009 Super User Posted March 5, 2009 5BL, I think he is going to end up with the only owner crazy enough to sign him.......and it's your team.... ;D Quote
Bass Dude Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Being a LONG TIME Eagles fan, I know all about the TO fiasco!!! Now that his talents are diminishing, I'm not so sure a team will be as willing to take him as they were in the past. I think the only one crazy enough to take him is Al Davis. He'll give him a 5 yr--$100mil contract!!!! :D :D Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted March 5, 2009 Super User Posted March 5, 2009 He's 35 and on a downhill slide. Probably Al Davis. He would fit in well with the rest of the convicts. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted March 5, 2009 Super User Posted March 5, 2009 I guess we're going to pick up Michael Vick to throw to T.O. too, huh? That probably wouldn't be a bad idea 'cause that LSU scrub Jamarcus Russell aint hittin' on much. What a waste of money he's been. Dude's killin' us. You guys just keep kicking the Raiders while they're down. They'll get back up one day and the shoe will be on the other foot. Just win baby! fishfordollar wrote: He's 35 and on a downhill slide. Super User Catt Posted March 5, 2009 Super User Posted March 5, 2009 Every 8 or 10 years the Raiders put together a team that aint pretenders and I think they are about due. As for T.O. he kind of reminds me of Deon Sanders more bark than bite Quote
Ky_Lake_Dude Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Although I don't really care about the Cowboys cutting him I think people give T.O. too much heat. Yes he's a standoffish individual but he is an amazing natural athlete that is one of the best to ever play the game at his position and he will no doubt be a Hall of Famer one day. Plus he may be a bad sport and stuff but he stays on the straight and narrow and is never in trouble with the police. Quote
Dean Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 No, he won't go to the Patriots. Randy moss is already there, then we got Wes Welker, he had a 1000+yds last season. We need a RB more than anything, not a loudmouth goofball. Quote

We need a RB more than anything, not a loudmouth goofball. A younger defense for the future is needed more than anything else. The Pats do need a second reciever though because Welker is the slot man. They started talking to Joey Galloway yesterday. I don't think Robert Craft or Bellicheck would deal with T.O.'s bs for a second though. Quote
Eddie Munster Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 I agree that dropping T.O. was a good move for Dallas but he wasn't the only reason Dallas PHALED last year; Romo bears some of that blame. He is WAY overrated and pretty lazy if the rumors are correct. He doesn't put in the time required to make himself better because he's already been handed the keys to the bank. I've seen Romo cry on the field in failure which is twice too many times. He's not a leader. Quote

Compared to the trouble that so many other athletes are getting themselves into, we should be praising T.O. And he will be playing next year. He's one of the best 10 receivers playing today, even if he has lost a step or two. Heck, just look at Manny Ramirez for a perfect example. Everyone in baseball hates him, but they love his batting production. Quote
done Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 He is a great athlete, no doubt. However, even more than having a dude arrested every other day, some folks have the ability to just poison a team. He is one of those guys that kills me cause he is given a HUGE natural ability (which he works his butt off to maintain), and he really wastes it by his attitude. I tell you what, if someone offered me 1.2 the cash he makes to play football or baseball for a living, I would have absolutely no problem sealing my lips and just play the game. Passion is a great thing but he should have learned long ago, when the cameras start rolling, seal the lips, don't say a word to them, maybe a boiler plate "I would like to thank the <insert team name here>, <insert team owner name here>, <insert coach name here>, and <insert name of belief here>, and all my teammates for giving me the chance to play today." That is all he has to do. Yeah I know he wants to numbers and he thinks the QB or team need to help him but he will be getting lower numbers being a PITA. He reminds me of Brian Cox with the Dolphins. GREAT talent, but a total nimrod (being from Buffalo, NY I loathed him even more). As soon as he lost a little of his edge he was done. Nobody, wanted him. To will find out quick, being the type of person he is, as soon as his A game is down even 5%, no team will want him and it will be too late then for him to start behaving. Quote

You can have all the talent in the world and if you can't work within a team, or better yet destroy a team, the talent is worthless. He's not standoffish---he's a jerk!!! He can say all he wants about his team and teamates, but keep it in the locker room. And keep it between yourself and the player you have an issue with. Don't get on TV and call all your teammates out, especially when you drop 5 passes a game!!! Ohh, and he does have a case of the alligator arm when he comes across the middle!!! Did everyone forget about his little "suicide" issue, that wasn't a suicide attempt, but it was, but it wasn't---what a fruitcake!!! Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted March 6, 2009 Super User Posted March 6, 2009 To has 34 TD's in 3 seasons. Yep, his stats went down some last year. He had Brad Johnson and another backup who where stellar, add in the fact that Romo was out, yep, he had an off year that most Receivers would love to have had. You guys crack me up. ESPN drove this bus off the cliff before it was an issue. Took 3 years of them reporting the same garbage for 3 years to come true. As for Romo, he was given the keys to the car. so was a lot of others in 10 years or so. Peyton and Eli both had more turnovers than Romo does in the same amount of time, and they both now have Rings. Romo and Roy Williams have been working together 3 times a week thus far this offseason. Thats Lazy for ya! And to blame TO or Romo for all the penalties, the special teams that weren't so special. Cowboys defense was off and on. But its easier to blame TO for the 9-7 season. Quote
Bass Dude Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 To has 34 TD's in 3 seasons. Yep, his stats went down some last year. He was also third in the league in dropped passes in '08. He's 35 and no corner back fears him any more. Let him go home and bench press in the drive-way. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted March 6, 2009 Super User Posted March 6, 2009 Dropped passes. LOL, Another Media driven stat that only applied to TO or other problem childs in the league. LOL Did yall ever go back 5 years and tell me who led the league then? LOL A TO driven new stat. I'm sorry, but the last year Vick played QB in Atlanta, I'd bet that they're receivers dropped twice as many as TO did that year, and TO supposedly led the league. This stat is bogus, I'd bet my BassCat PII that TO was not the league leader, Just a Media driven stat aimed at TO. Again, at what time did they start keeping that stat? Quote

TO was second in dropped balls to Braylon Edwards, so you just about lost your BassCat. Although if you want to bet that BassCat on the Vick question, I can give you my address. Jenkins and White couldn't dropped twice as many balls because Vick wasn't accurate enough to help them drop that many passes. Quote

atx_newbie Posted March 7, 2009 Author Posted March 7, 2009 For those who say T.O. isn't one of the premier receivers currently playing, I'm just curious to know who you think is better, that is currently playing. Here are the guys who might be better, but arguments could be made against all of them, in no particular order: 1) Larry Fitzgerald 2) Chad Johnson (maybe) 3) Steve Smith (Carolina) 4) Reggie Wayne 5) Chris Chambers (maybe) 6) Housh (maybe) 7) Randy Moss And that's all I've got. I would add Plaxico, but he's not exactly playing right now, probably won't be back for a while depending on his legal troubles, and who knows how well he'll recover from a gunshot wound to the thigh. There are other guys, mainly slot receivers (Wes Welker comes to mind) that are great receivers, but they don't effect a game the way T.O. and this list does. These guys consistently draw double teams and force the other team to gameplan against them. I can't really think of another player that commands more respect from defenses than these 8 (inlcuding T.O.) ***Edit: I forgot about Joey Galloway. So add him to the list*** Quote
