Super User burleytog Posted January 22, 2009 Super User Posted January 22, 2009 Anyone watch? If Stefan doesn't win, it will only be because Jamie or Hosea has thrown him under the bus. Stefan is hands down the best chef this season. Having said that, I don't think a single one of them could hold Richard's, Stephanie's or Hung's cutting board. The last two seasons have featured perhaps the best talent in the history of the show. Shaping up to be a very interesting last few weeks as there isn't a real clear-cut favorite. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted January 22, 2009 Super User Posted January 22, 2009 It's good to see you gave up watching Days of Our Lives. Quote
atx_newbie Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 While I agree that Stefan is probably best as far as technical and classical cooking techniques, I don't think he'll win. Top Chef seems to go for chefs who are a little bit more contemporary. French classical cuisine is definitely not contemporary. But I haven't watched every episode this season, so he could have done something that I didn't see. Either way, I don't like him. He's so arrogant and rude. But then again, aren't those the resume requirements to be a chef ;D Quote
Super User Dan: Posted January 22, 2009 Super User Posted January 22, 2009 I never expected to ever watch an episode of that show but for some reason I find myself watching it. I can't explain it, its just kind of interesting. I don't keep up with it or anything but if I find it while surfing I will stop and watch. Quote
Bass Dude Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 The best thing about that show: Pagma!!! She is smokin' Quote
Zel Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 The heck with Stefan... how about those poor people on Gilligan's Island. Although they can build a car out of coconuts and bamboo, they spend years on that deserted island because they just can't seem to build a workable boat. So so sad! It tears my heart out. Quote
tallydude Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 I love this show! Christine and I watch this show every Wednesday. I agree there's no clear cut favorite, but I think it will be between Stefan, Fabio and Jamie. Padma is incredibly hot, though. Casey from a couple seasons ago was too. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 23, 2009 Author Super User Posted January 23, 2009 Fabio hasn't really shown anything. IMO he's little better than Jamie. Stefan is the only chef on the show who has shown that he has a bit of range. Fabio is too centered on Italian, Jamie too centered on scallops. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted February 5, 2009 Author Super User Posted February 5, 2009 Down to the final five. Leah and Hosea need to go next. I sold Carla short early in the season. She's got some chops. IMO it is still Stefan's to lose, but I thought the same thing about Richard last season. Quote
1inStripes Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Fabio hasn't really shown anything. IMO he's little better than Jamie. Stefan is the only chef on the show who has shown that he has a bit of range. Fabio is too centered on Italian, Jamie too centered on scallops. Whats wrong with being centered on scallops? I love scallops. Quote
wagn Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I admit it....i watch this show too. My wife got me hooked. The funny thing is the only thing I can cook is toast Quote

I love scallops. There is nothing wrong with scallops. The problem comes when you focus on only one protein. Jamie used scallops no less than three times in the first six episodes. As for last night's episode, I really feel for everyone who ate during the main challenge. Escolar = anal leakage. Quote
1inStripes Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Oddly enough that you brought up scallops since shucking them was the competition on Hell's Kitchen tonight. Quote
tallydude Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 No one has dominated a season like Stefan has. He's blowing the doors off of everyone. I'd be shocked if he didn't win at this point. He would have to make a mistake like Sam did in season 2. But I don't think anyone can touch him. Leah has to be the next to go- she annoys me and I can't stand the fact that she quit the Quick Fire challenge in front of Eric Ripert. Carla's better than I thought and I think Fabio will finish second. He's not immune to making flaws, so he could get knocked out before his time. He's definitely winning the fan favorite award. He's had more and better quotes this season than everyone else combined. Now if they could only find a way to introduce monkeyass as an ingredient... Quote
atx_newbie Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Anybody watch last night? I was really impressed with Fabio's handling of his broken finger. "Go to the hospital? I'd rather cut it off and sear it on the flat-top before I quit this challenge." Then I thought he would make a big deal of it to the judges for a sympathy vote, but he kept the hand behind his back the whole time. Very classy. As far as Leah going home, I thought Stefan actually lost that challenge, but no one wanted to send him home since he has won so many challenges, which may or may not be fair. But he overcooked a piece of salmon, which is something that they really harp on, and many other chefs have been sent home for overcooked fish. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted February 13, 2009 Author Super User Posted February 13, 2009 Stefan used his 'Get out of jail free' card this week. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted February 21, 2009 Author Super User Posted February 21, 2009 Stefan's arrogance will be his undoing. As is often the case on this show, things really change once you get to the top five or six. Once you get to that point, most of the pretenders are gone and those who are left come to realize that they are good chefs. Then they start cooking like it. Carla is coming on strong and has a great chance of winning. Hopefully this week's elimination of Fabio will cause Stefan to refocus on the goal. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted March 2, 2009 Author Super User Posted March 2, 2009 Stefan was a victim of his own success and Carla was a victim of that meddling $(*%*$ Casey. Never before have I felt that a Top Chef winner was unworthy, but Hosea qualifies for that dishonor. Quote
