BassFishingMachine Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Hey, for the past 2 days now, I've run into two people who have been burnin lizards on the top with some pretty good results.. outfished me thats for sure. Just wanted to know if any of you guys have tryed this, or any tips/info on the technique itself? Also, what are some other good soft plastics to burn along the top? Only others I can think of are frogs, and ragetail shads. Quote
brytedarkness Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 yesterday i was fishing a slough..about 50 yards wide...i was fishing from shore and i saw one across the way slurp something up...so i cast what i had on my line (a 4" glittery/hologram colored senko) right past where she slurped...burned acrossthe top while twitching and WHAM hit it hard...too bad i lost her halfway...but later on i caught two by burning them right next to some weedbeds..i just never thought burning a senko across the top would produce..but it did for me that day...i was fishing for like 2 hours. my post was probably useless...but whatever haha Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted June 12, 2008 Super User Posted June 12, 2008 trickworm-not really burned but walking the dog. Gycb Kut tail--same thing zoom speed worm and speed craw rage craw 4 inch grubs -looks like a baby minnow running for its life Quote
MNGeorge Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 If there are enough open spots in a slop field, we sometimes use a YUM Crawbug instead of a Horny Toad type bait. We buzz it across the slop and then allow it to drop in the open pockets. Hits have come anytime, but most come on the fall in the pockets. Quote
ntrojack Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 I just recently had a club member share with me about throwing a weightless lizard and running it on top, and found it does catch fish. You can also doing the same with a Zoom ole Monster around pads as well. Does a good job.... J2 Quote
brytedarkness Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 ok so i went to that slough again today...burned a kreature for about 45 mins and caught three bass....as soon as hit the water near the weedline, the bass hit it hard..just thoughyt id post that Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I've been fishing weightless lizards on top for years with very good sucess. Production has dropped noticably since the ribbit though. Everyone in Louisiana throws a Ribbit sooner or later so fish become wary to things they see often. I have found that techniques that you engineer yourself seem to work when nothing else does because fish rarely see it. A slab spoon skipped on top in open water can also produce so explosive strikes. Quote
