So I have convinced Christine to do Mexico for ou honeymoon. I'd like to go someplace where we can be on the beach, I can fish for roosterfish, and where we can do some sightseeing. We're getting married in December.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Sorry, the closest I have been to Mexico is my local Wal-Mart.  :(

Have you thought of a cruise? Mexican riviera is fun, done it twice.

Only problem is picking what port you would want to fish out of.

Cabo has great fishing, but you have to check how long you will

be in that port?

We stayed in the Riviera Maya/Mayan Sun Coast/whatever they're calling it now.  We stayed at the Aventura Palace.  Not much for beaches there, but the pools in the big all inclusive resorts are freaking sweet.  We were close to Chichen Itza and a few other ruins that we visited.  We went snorkeling in the ocean and in the underground streams (that was a lot of fun).

Can't help you on the fishing part of it as I didn't go on my honeymoon and I don't even know what a roosterfish is!

We've been to Cancun, and the Riviera Maya at least a dozen times.

PM me if you want details. I can also put you onto a great guide.

If you can wait until January, you'll find much lower prices for both resorts and flights, and better flight times.

We stayed at the Iberostar near Playa Del Karman, a few years ago.

It was extremely nice. I didn't do any fishing though. Like Tyrius said, the pools at these places are like lakes. I've fished in some ponds that weren't that big.

The Riviera Maya is the place to go. All inclusive. Beautiful beaches. Fishing is available out of Playa Del Carma. Sightseeing the Mayan ruins. And very cheap. Apple Vacations has plenty of nicely priced packages to most of the resorts including air travel.

I've been to Mexico many times and have time share in Cabo. I would not pick Cabo, even though the fishing is really great, but very expensive.

Without a doubt for a honeymoon I would pick Puerto Vallarta over any Mexican destination. It is the most romantic place I've been in Mexico with wonderful food. The fishing isn't too bad there either and much more affordable than Cabo.

I have caught Marlin (striped & white), sailfish, snappers big aj's, dorados not to mention big jacks off the beach.  Don't quote me on this but I believe roosterfish are only caught in the Pacific.

For a pure fishing trip there are other destinations I would prefer.

First: Right now I wouldn't pick Mexico - they are having serious problems down there. If I did pick a spot it would in one of the "All Inclusive" places on Cozumel.

I would be looking further down in the eastern Carib.

The media hasn't paid much attention to what is happening with

our southern neighbor. Collapse and/or revolution is knocking

at the door. Personal safety could quickly become a very serious

issue.

Cancun,Mexico

Moon Palace (palaceresorts.com)

Don't know about beach fishing , but my trip on a boat there only cost $100 and we caught 3 White Marlin and Dorado and Trigger Fish (which look NOTHING like the ones here).

5-star, all-inclusive is the only way to go.

(did i mention that all the rooms have a jacuzzi.... 8-)?)
