Female friend of the owner (female) went to help corral the chimp and got mauled. Pretty much chewed her hands off and ripped her face off. Officers responded and killed the animal. Really sad story.

This is a great example of why you shouldn't have some animals as pets.  >

I saw a show on them, on discovery I think. In the wild they have been known to ****** babies from their mothers and eat them. It's not something you really consider when you think about chimps. Very strong animals.

That's actually not uncommon at all.  I saw a Discovery channel special about the violence of chimps.  Supposedly, chimps kill more people in Africa each year than lions (though I think that number could be skewed because you don't always find the body of someone killed by a lion).  Anyway, I always thought chimps just ate fruits.  As it turns out, their main diet consists of other monkeys.

When attacking, their strategy is always to attack the extremities to disable their opponent.  And when they attack a male, yes, the groin is considered an extremity.  There was a story about a guy getting attacked at a zoo and "certain parts" of his anatomy were thrown up to 50 feet away.  Pound for pound, the chimp is like 3 times stronger than humans, so we don't really stand a chance against one that goes crazy.

Motion= 8000lbs coming at you when ur 200 lbs =U lose  Gravity 8000lbs coming down on 200 lbs= U lose again   I see humans do this a lot !!!

That monkey hasn't seen crazy until he tries to rip off my extremity. I may lose the battle but I guarantee you he'll know he's been in a fight.

I watched a discovery program where these baboons at a watering hole would attack baby gazelles and eat their eyes first to disorient them.

Bottom line is that WE may think we're at the top of the food chain, but in actuality we're only as good as are weapons.

I sort of want to laugh about it and I know it's not right, it is tragic...but when are people going to leave wild animals alone?  Something like this happens and these type people are completely stunned, as if they never would have thought that it could ever have happened.  Good God, there's a reason why they're called, "WILD" animals!

idunno, i just caught the tail end of it, i heard them talking about someone was curling up with and playing with the others hair, and had sexual relations with. they might have been talking about people, not apes. then the guy went on to say how he showers with his dogs, so thats what made me think it was the ape, since that was a major (i dont know why) news story.

She slept with the chimp, and cuddled with it "in the bed they shared."  It ate the finest foods and drank wine from longstem glasses.  She let it brush her hair every night.  They bathed together.

Something don't see quite right about all that.

Kinda reminds me of the "grizzly man"  Timothy Treadwell story. If you remember , he thought the grizzlys were his friend, that is, right up until the point where one of the grizzly bears ate him... and his girlfriend. Wild animals are not pets, that includes monkeys, snakes, lions, & tigers, & bears...Oh my.
