Whats so bad about Maryland?  The only bad thing I have noticed is that there are a great deal of people who think way too highly of themselves and their money.  Well, thats actually pretty bad.

The area between Fredericksburg and Richmond is nice.  I don't know what the job market is like, but I wouldn't mind living there.

the MVA for one make a long story short i let my insurance lapse 1 freekin month.  I have had insurance for 8 ys no probs. Well in order to get tags for a dif vehicle i have to pay them 650 bucks. This is through a MVA branch in Largo that is 2 hrs from me. My local MVA wont take my money sayin it went to there Collections branch wich also charges 17% intrest .They also used the  words " We dont KNOW IF you gave your dad the truck " before or after the lapse .I said a mult million dollar facility and thats all you can say to me and then deny me tags for my other vehicle . Before i got loud and ON the news i left  .I have a lot more reasons but they would bore ya small things add up for me :D

I like having inusrance its a nessisity but if it was lapsed only a month and i didnt get caught how can they say i broke a law .its a case of guilty without a trial if i was caught without it same thing would happen then as it is now BTW i pay 236 a month and i havent had a accident or any driving penalties 1 speeding ticket in 4 yrs. Thats why state farm dropped me for a speedin ticket after 8 yrs of perfection never even sent me a cancle notice i went there to pay said it was cancelled said i need to get MAIF then needed 700 bucks down to start that in NOV

I tend to think that things get better the more you go south.

;)

I have also noticed this.

No question about it.

If you hate Maryland, try New Jersey for a year or so, then let us know what you think.

The law is that insurance be current. You were guilty whether you were "caught" or not. In cases like this, you always get caught. The insurance companies report to the MVA whenever insurance lapses.

Sorry if this is a little rough way to ask but not sure why not following a law you apparently knew about and the state advising you that you need to pay the penalty is their fault. Whether it was a month or a year, if you got caught or not has no bearing on the laws. There may be plenty of other reason's to hate the state but I don't see it in what you described. Most times I hear it its about taxes, or not being a right to carry state.

Virginia requires insurance unless you pay the uninsured motorist fee.  But you are taking your life in your hands if you drive without insurance.  If you cause a crash, you are going to pay out-of-pocket for damages.   My advice - carry insurance.

All that also its the fact the MVA has a branch that charges intrest plus the fact i bought tags with my money and paid taxes  that makes them legally mine.them using the word IF,s and DONT   .Dont hold up in court if i went that route For anything else you do in this state u have a option to appeal it with tags u dont .the MVA is robbing us blind with these outrages claims of guilty until proven innocent.Waaaaaaaaaaaay too much gov for me

Ah the old Central Collections Unit in Baltimore ;) Have you gone there yet? If I remember correctly they have bullet proof glass. I have lived in the Peoples revolutionary republic of merryland most of my life too. Dealing with the MVA had me looking for a place to live in VA and WVA as well. Apparently shaking people down for not turning in tags is a good business for the state. I sold a car, turned in the tags, guy I sold it to registered it 2 weeks later. Well 26 months later I got a nice letter from the CCU saying I owed $7 a day for 26 months along with a CCU 17% collection fee. I proved to 3 different MVA's that I didn't own the car so I couldn't be driving it without insurance nor was I responsible for insuring a car I didn't own. It only took me 11 different trips and about 9 months to get straight though? I finally threatened to sue the state for lost wages and extortion before they settled it. I can tell you from experience the state police will throw you out of the MVA! I spent 45 minutes explaining to an employee how I did not own the car and can prove it to her so I do not owe the money. She said she understood, then said that I could make payments to pay the fine :-? Well that was the last straw! After a few you can't be that F***ing dumb comments the police removed me and told me to go to Glen Burnie. :)

There is a very long list of places (such as Maryland, several third world countries, Hell, the Sahara desert, etc.) where I would rather live than New Jersey.  :P
