Super User burleytog Posted February 15, 2009 Super User Posted February 15, 2009 Remember when it was just a race? I guess the one hour pre-race show wasn't enough for Fox, they have to spend another hour showing BS cartoons. Start the d**n race at 2 and get it over with. Fox has ruined Nascar. Quote
Jake. Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 I don't know what they're thinking showing that dumb little gopher cartoon for this long. Quote
Fisher of Men Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Sounds like the superbowl. Have they interviewed the president yet? Which artists have performed? : Quote

Super User Sam Posted February 15, 2009 Super User Posted February 15, 2009 Hey guys, its all about the money. The longer the pre-race show the more commercials. The more commercials, the more money. Get it? Simple. Always, no matter if it is politics, TV, radio, business, etc., follow the money. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted February 15, 2009 Super User Posted February 15, 2009 Racing sucks!!!!!!! Calm down, I'm kidding. I just trying to stir yall up. Quote

Super User burleytog Posted February 15, 2009 Author Super User Posted February 15, 2009 I can still remember when every race save for the Sears Point race started just after 1PM. It was nice being able to watch the race and still do something on a Sunday. Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted February 15, 2009 Super User Posted February 15, 2009 Junior just got busted for a lap...I'm not his biggest fan. 8-) Quote
Super User cart7t Posted February 15, 2009 Super User Posted February 15, 2009 Now Junior starts the first Big one. Hope he gets busted a few laps for that little move. Quote

1inStripes Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Jrs a moron. Did they give him the lucky dog? Im trying to listen on the radio, and went and caught a replay in the break room. If he got the lucky dog, its a joke. Quote

thetr20one Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 NASCAR to me is booorrriiinnnnggg ! I would much rather watch drag racing ,open wheeled F-1 or CART, or rally racing. I guess the experience off be AT a NASCAR is something special. A couple of guys at work go to At least a couple races a year and claim "You have to be there". I have to admit though I have watched a race all the way though but, only after I got a 50" hdtv and a 7.1 surround sound system. That made it somewhat watchable but not enough to bring me back. I have never cared for NASCAR so I don't really have an opinion on their transition to FOX. Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 You don't HAVE to be there at a NASCAR race.... but you DO have to be at an NHRA event. Something about Funny Cars makes me giddy like a little girl. Quote

Something about Funny Cars makes me giddy like a little girl. I went to my first NHRA race a couple years ago. A buddy of mine had been going every year for a long time and he was all over my butt every year to tag along. Reluctantly I went. Probably one of the top 10 coolest experiences in my life. Just no words to describe it. I plan on going back every year. Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted February 16, 2009 Super User Posted February 16, 2009 I think I'm done anyhow, but if Junior doesn't get some kind of disciplinary suspension, I'm out for sure. This clown is a "Clear and Present Danger" to every driver on the track. His ego makes him a threat, his lack of driving skill makes him an accident waiting to happen. > Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted February 16, 2009 Super User Posted February 16, 2009 My first time I went the first place we went was to the pits. John Force was doing his warm up thing and my buddy told me to go up there and watch. So I did. I had the best seat in the house. Front row and center. Had no clue what to expect. So first off I see most of the guys on his crew put on gas masks. That alarms me a bit, but there is tons of other people standing around me without so I think I must be safe. So they start 'er up. It's loud, but not really what I was expecting. About 30 seconds in or so I see the people around start to plug there ears. I am like ... jeez what a bunch a pansies. Then it happens!!!! They goose it (or set the clutch like you say). I don't know what was worse .... my heart skipping a beat, the paint running down the front of my leg, or the crap running down the back up my leg. ;D ;D Then the Nitro starts hitting me and I feel like I am about to suffocate. The gas masks and ear plugs all make sense now. ;D All the while my buddy and his dad are in tears laughing at me from a distance. I got to repay the experience to a first timer last year. Yeah it was pretty d**n funny to watch. Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 YES!!! You are now officially a NITRO JUNKIE! I saw a grown man in Joliet fall down on the ground when Kenny Bernstein whacked the throttle in the pits. It is the loudest sound on the planet I think. I sat less than 10' away eating a fine BBQ chicken lunch as Ron Capps warmed up his funny car. We had hospitality passes. No gas masks, no ear plugs.... Ron came over afterwards and says to me and my friend Jason with a big smile: "You guys are either die hard, or just dumb" I think both maybe. Quote
1inStripes Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I haven't been to an NHRA event yet but want to. Every time they have been to Bristol something has come up. Hope to make it happen soon. Quote
