tallydude Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I love me some Iron Chef. Been watching it for years. I used to be a Flay fan, but Batali is now my favorite. How about you? Quote
1inStripes Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Come on, this is a fishing website, how can it not be Morimoto! That goes back to the original Iron Chef. Chen would be a close second for me. Quote
tallydude Posted February 9, 2009 Author Posted February 9, 2009 Chen would be up there for me, but I wanted to make this about the American show. I loved Morimoto, but even the best chefs will admit that Batali has few equals. Quote
1inStripes Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Batali is great, but all of those guys are there for a reason. Their all great. Bobby Flay knows who owns him though. Jack McDavid! Thats for some old school Food Network folks. Quote

Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted February 9, 2009 Super User Posted February 9, 2009 Toss up between Flay and Batali...but I like Flay's dishes better... some of Batali's dishes are a little too exotic for me Quote
IDbasser Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Flay for me. I love his style of cooking. Quote
TheBeast Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 From the choices I have to go with Batali. I like the exoticness of his dishes. Quote
atx_newbie Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I like Flay for personality, but Morimoto is so far ahead of them in skill that he should have his own show. When the other guys are cooking, its a coin toss as to whether or not they'll beat the challenger. When Morimoto is cooking, I'd bet my house that he wins, and I'd throw in my car on a bet that he gets a perfect score. The only one I've ever seen him lose is the chile pepper contest. Which isn't hard to understand, since chiles aren't native to Japan, and the guy he was competing against specialized in Mexican/Southwestern cuisine. That show lent the funniest moment in Iron Chef history: Morimoto was tasting the peppers as he went, since he didn't know what each one tasted like, and he took a huge bite out of a raw habanero. It was hilarious. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted February 9, 2009 Super User Posted February 9, 2009 I never trust a skinny chef...... So I gotta go with the fat Italian gentleman in the blue corner. Quote
Eddie Munster Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I never trust a skinny chef...... +1 SPEED I hate going into a sub show and see some skinny chick making the sandwiches. I want the portly people making my food because they'll make it to THEIR liking which usually means bigger portions. Quote
wagn Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Morimoto is my favorite, but then I can't cook anything. I'm in awe of what these people can do with food Quote
Daniel A. Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I never trust a skinny chef...... My wife says the same thing. She watches Food Network quite a bit, and now that I think about it, I don't think she watches any skinny chefs. Quote
Fisher of Men Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Toss up between Flay and Batali, but I do have to agree with the "skinny chef" comments. I guess Cat Cora would be my least favorite. Off, but near the topic, the entirely most annoying cook on Foodnet is "Barefoot Contessa". My wife does a great whispering impression of her. ;D Quote
Super User cart7t Posted February 12, 2009 Super User Posted February 12, 2009 ... I'm in awe of what these people can do with food I can cook but you're right, those guys are on a different level completely. BTW, I like the new guy. A big fan of Flay and Batalia but it's nice to see a new guy with new ideas. He hasn't quite hit his stride yet but so far everything he's done looks good. Quote

I can't stand watching that show! Quote
southwestoh Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 I think Cat Cora is pretty, for some reason i was suprised to find out she was gay. for skill though Bobby Flay Quote

1inStripes Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Im not completely surprised. Listening to her, I would think she may have even grew a pair of cajones. Quote
