wagn Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 I've been playing for about 7 months. I've got a Gibson SG clone and a Dean ML I try and play at least a little bit everyday. It's the only thing that keeps me sane through the winter Quote
MitchIsFishin Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Played for 37 years. Quit. Played jazz, blues, and a variety of rock. Suggestions: Get some books. Scales, chord progressions. Learn to read music if you haven't done so. Practice daily. Quote

Josh VanderMeer Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Playin about 3 years. Mosty play classic rock, metal and blues. Right now I'm working on scuttle buttin' by stevie ray vaughn. I can almost play it up to speed. I play in church too. As for recommendations, download a guitar tab program like guitar pro or power tabs. These programs will really help your timing. For gear I have: Epiphone Explorer with seymour duncans. Homemade Eddie Van Halen Frankestrat. Peavey Windsor Half Stack which I'm try to sell cause its too big, I'll be getting a peavey classic 50 combo instead. Behringer V-ampire which I'm also selling. I've got a bunch of pedals too, I'm making a pedal board soon. heres a picture of my frankenstrat: Quote
bass or bass ? Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I'm a bassist (hence my posting name) and harmonica player and vocalist, been playing over 40 years professionally and semi pro. I have 5 basses; 3 electrics, 1 acoustic and 1 upright. Also an electric 12 string guitar, piano, Hammond and Italian organs, and a 100 year old mandolin. Diatonic harmonicas in every key, and a whole bedroom full of amplifiers, PA gear, stage lights, stands, etc. My reguler fishing partner is a saxophone wizard who I've been playing with for over 10 years. My other fishing partner is a monster keyboardist that I've been playing with for 15 years. Music and fishing are both a big part of my life, and I started both at the age of 13. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~ Quote
Big Tom Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I have been playing for about 12 years. I haven't played nearly as much as I used to now that I got bass fishing on the brain . The good thing about it is that its always there when you want it though. Quote
Daniel A. Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I've played on and off for about 10 years. I can't seem to devote the time to it that I'd like. As MitchIsFishin recommended, learn scales, progressions, etc. They're more valuable than learning songs. Quote
