I just got back from a weeks vacation in California.

For the first 1/2 of the week,I was in San Diego, on Coronado Island with the crew from C.A.S.T. We did our yearly brainstorming session and exchanged ideas and suggestions for new hosts that are coming about this yr. After going over the schedule, there are a few of you from the board who I will be visiting personally this season! I can't wait!! :D:)

I also got to, not just meet, but hang out with, Clay Dyer and his buddy Elvin Smith.. I know you probably all know, or assume , how cool Clay is but meeting him in person was a treat I was not ready for. Clay has a humor that puts people at ease immediately. It's a ball busting type of humor that fits right in perfectly with me. His friend Elvin (an attorney and tournament angler from Dallas) is a top notch guy as well. Together we had some laughs and Clay invited me to come pre-fish Champlain with him this July. Talk about an honor!!

On another FLW-ish note, the FLW has committed to hosting 4 CAST events this yr!! Now, I'm not sure on the full details of that yet, whether or not the pro's will be involved. Stay tuned!!

So after the conference, I headed North to Gilroy to visit with RedlineRobert and Gidget. Unfortunately, Gidget has been going flat out studying and taking a big test for work, so I didn't get to spend as much time with her as I would have liked but they are coming here in Sept so we'll make up for it then.

Robert,on the other hand, got to get a free lesson on how to find some Delta stripers, lol. Once we found them, the rest was easy. Tons of fun on the Steez ML paired with a baby Stella.

oh, 1 more thing, if you haven't read it yet, you must check out Clay's new book, "The View Is Just Fine from Down Here"

It's a quick read that explains how Clay got to be where he is today. A true inspiration and a well needed view of some quality human nature. Clay was , and is,surrounded by some amazing people. It details Clay's journey and lends great example to the fact that obstacles are only temporary if you choose them to be. A great read.

(Stratosdadri- I have a personally signed copy from Clay to you for all you do for the kids here in RI)

Wow, Robert has a fairly limited selection of rods.  Just how is he able to function without the proper amount of equiptment?

Great pic with Clay!

Russ, in the first picture, did they have to tell you to be in the "short" line for the picture or did you fall in line there out of habit?  ;D

Nice pics.
