mattm Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Lil Wayne is great when I want to stick a steak knife in my ear. Accomplishes the exact same thing with half the permanent damage.
slomoe Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Not really a fan. I prefer underground hip hop. Check out Crown City Rockers and People Under the Stairs. Crown city rockers are great. Very chill.
Pitchinkid Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Hes the best rapper alive period. Dude puts on a great show. His energy level is unmatched. Carter III was the fastest selling rap record of all time. Every track hes on goes to number 1. Its ridiculous. Plus the guy is only in his 20's.Hes the face of hip-hop and is going to be around for a while.
atx_newbie Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I'm not really a fan, but I haven't listened to much of his stuff. I was in a country western/sports radio rut for about the past 4 years. Now I'm starting to open up the radio dial a little bit, and I really like some stuff. I'm really getting into some of the new stuff by Kanye, T.I., and John Legend (he's not really a rapper, but some of his songs crossover).
SimonSays Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 He raps insanely slow, might as well be chanting...reminds me of some buddhist chants I have to listen to every so often... On the flip side, Twista raps so insanely fast it makes no sense but sounds...interesting...

And even then don't forget about LL (Just go listen to "I'm the type of guy" lol) members of NWA, The Game, Brother Ali is climbing in status, and Eminem is still great. Ever, no way and never will be. And a good show? New England concert goers can't stand him. He has been at two events for 94.5 and both times didn;t perform because "he couldnt get through security". :
slomoe Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I saw him here at a show and granted he does have a lot of energy, but it seemed that his target audience changed from dudes to the ladies, ripping off his shirt and whatnot. ;D Needless to say we left after that..

He is the best that is putting out albums right now. The Game is awesome but he is west coast and there hasn't been nobody since snoop worth a darn from the west coast. All i am saying is finiacially, lyrically, and popularity wise, nobody is better than little Wayne right now.lol Come on New England fans are the hardest people on the planet to please. dont get me wrong , im a huge sox and celtics fan. You know thats not a hip hop area anyways

slomoe Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 The Game is awesome but he is west coast and there hasn't been nobody since snoop worth a darn from the west coast. Just because its not on the radio doesn't mean that its not worth a d**n. When any song gets replayed over and over and over on the radio and tv regardless of genre, to me it becomes pop music. There's a formula thats being used here and nobody see's it. Same thing with TV
daviscw Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I forgot about Eminem. He is probably my favorite rapper. Call me lame, but I kinda liked 8 Mile the movie.

I knew a guido comment was gonna come up. Weezy is HUGE down here in Georgia or the "A" as many of the gansters refer to it. Lol. I like some of Lil Wayne's stuff, but The Carter 3 has some whack songs on it. Either they are great or they are terrible. And if you think Weezy is the greatest rapper alive, then your exposure to rap is miniscule. I have heard some awesome local stuff here that would put him to shame.
Super User Dan: Posted February 9, 2009 Super User Posted February 9, 2009 He puts on a good show? That's not what I've heard. I've heard of numerous instances of him showing up HOURS late to concerts, playing 3 songs and leaving. The biggest fan of his that I know went to see him in Richmond and came back frustrated and less of a fan because he showed up late and only played a few songs.
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 9, 2009 Super User Posted February 9, 2009 Everything's fine guys, just keep it clean. I don't want to come back here, I think I'm allergic to rap...
ptomacbass Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Tupac was the best rapper ever and he still is. Listen to My Block OG, Pain OG, and Friend Like Me OG. I say OG because Eminem remade so many of Tupac's songs and made them sound terrible.
I.rar Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 links contain offensive language. http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/news/id.6060/title.pusha-t-responds-to-lil-wayne http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/news/id.6442/title.lil-wayne-vs-50-cent-beef-or-not i personally think 50 cent is worlds better than wayne. especially his older stuff. shyne too.

Pitchinkid Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 lol yall are killing me. Let me try and get this point across one more time. I am not doubting that there are better rappers with better flow with low or no radio play and small followings, im not. Im saying that right now, album sells, popularity, exposure , lyrically, talent, wayne is the best. Alot of the rappers yall named write alot ,if not all of there lyrics down before they go into the studio and thats fine. Wayne does not, its all off the top of his head. Yes he is mainstream now or pop, whatever you wanna call it, and if everybody else was as good as he was they would be too, but right now there not. Anyways tired of arguing about this. Hanna Montana is on. peace
WIII-60 Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Lil wayne is THE worst thing that has ever happened to hip hop in my own humble opinion He's bad but, Rick Moranis or Devastatin' Dave may be the WORST. Actually, Devastatin Dave is so bad that he crossed back over into awesome again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMUnHMbdbyA
