GLADES Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 The chili peppers are OK. Being a borderline old fart, I still try to keep an open mind, but it is difficult nowadays to accept and enjoy new music. I have played and performed in a jazz band and symphony, and I have met some of the famous jazz artists. That experience makes you appreciate different types and skills, even if you dont really enjoy them. My favorite music with all that being said is 50-60 rock and 50-60 R&B.There is something about the innocense and purity of some of the music. The hard rock and ballads of the late 60, 70-80 come a close second. The modern country music, and some country oldies are great too. Big bands and jazz have their time and place. Rap doesnt classify as music as far as i am concerned. Quote
guitarkid Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Wow this is almost as bad as the Shemano-Flooger war. -gk Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted February 6, 2009 Super User Posted February 6, 2009 Wow this is almost as bad as the Shemano-Flooger war. If this was like the Shimano/ flooooooger war, then we'd be discussing rap and polka music. Everybody knows Abu is the best. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted February 6, 2009 Super User Posted February 6, 2009 so how bout them 'tallica boys? Quote
ejtaylor822 Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Not a member of Team Pampers, but I totally dig the Peppers. Have always enjoyed their music. Especially their live music. As a bassist, respect Flea and what he brings to the song. Chad Smith is an excellent rock "power" drummer. Suck my Kiss, although don't like the language, is just one heckuva a tune. Great riffs and enough energy to power a medium sized city. Even makes me want to mosh. I used that song many years for sound checks on electric bass gigs as it worked the entire register and provided a great standard for mixing with the the fast runs and bottom end. Was amazing, as a Christian Musician I would check on this tune at Christian events/venues and there were always a few folks that would look up and say "hey, isn't that the Chili Peppers?". Good music is universal and not limited to one genre, age group, class, religon, etc. It's all good. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted February 8, 2009 Super User Posted February 8, 2009 Enough said. John Frusciante is a very talented guitarist. You should check his new album The Empyrean. I'm just glad Flea was wearing clothes in that video. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted February 8, 2009 Super User Posted February 8, 2009 Yeah, those guys aren't shy. Reading about the tube sock fashions is funny but seeing it is a whole different story. :-/ Quote
