Super User Root beer Posted February 6, 2009 Super User Posted February 6, 2009 Enough said. John Frusciante is a very talented guitarist. You should check his new album The Empyrean. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted February 6, 2009 Author Super User Posted February 6, 2009 Do you hate change? I don't believe you like any music that wasn't made in 70s. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted February 6, 2009 Super User Posted February 6, 2009 Do you hate change? I don't believe you like any music that wasn't made in 70s. What you fail to understand is that there hasn't been any good music that has been recorded since the Seventies. Quote
daviscw Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 I like RHCP, but I don't tend to stray too far away from George Strait much. As far as it being bad music, it's all in the ear of the listener. Don't let the old farts bring you down. Quote

Muddy, listen to this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLfhgw20Xh8 That John Frusciante. The lead guitarist for RHCP. I believe he one of the best guitarist out there. He constantly writing new music and he can flat out play. Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted February 6, 2009 Super User Posted February 6, 2009 i lost all respect for RHCP when they stated at woodstock no one should own guns. maybe im the problem though...........i dunno Quote
daviscw Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 There is a world of difference between being an old fart and having a trained ear.Music notation and keys are still importnt to some of us. I didn't know you had any formal training and, I have never even heard of your band. These guys must be doing something right... I have actually taken music courses in college, including a music culture and dialouge class where I made an "A". People like different music for different reasons; thats what makes music so great. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted February 6, 2009 Author Super User Posted February 6, 2009 Muddy, where I said ignorant..I was referring to long mike. Quote
daviscw Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 So then why can't you dicern that this guy is singing flat? I will repeat, people listen to different kinds of music for different reasons. Not everybody cares if the man can sing. Obviously you do, and I respect that. I like the sound the RHCP's produce, and I can tell them apart from any other band. Quote
daviscw Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Good put it on loud and enjoy! This old fart knows s a thing or two about music. People look at all kinds of things and call it art that's how Wharol sold a painting of a soup can for over a million dollars. That doesn't make it art. You can repeat it all you want I am not buying it and i do not expect you to like what I do.I You are still missing the point. Yes, it IS art. Maybe not to you, but to millions of other it is. Definition of art: 1. the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance. I am not asking you to like what I like either, but why post on a RHCP thread if you have nothing positive to say? I could care less about your favorite guitarists and jazz and blues players, but I don't come into your thread and diss them do I? Quote
Super User Dan: Posted February 6, 2009 Super User Posted February 6, 2009 Anthony Kiedis is reportedly very self conscious about singing live. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted February 6, 2009 Author Super User Posted February 6, 2009 Muddy, read what he said to me. That is an ignorant statement. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted February 6, 2009 Super User Posted February 6, 2009 Me? Ignorant? Absolutely! Thank you for the recognition! Coming from a gentleman of your vast experience, I consider it a compliment. : Quote

Super User Dan: Posted February 6, 2009 Super User Posted February 6, 2009 Wow, this is dumb. Muddy, come on dude, you just came in and totally crapped on his thread. You basically said RHCP sucks and has no talent. People have different tastes and arguing about them is pointless. Did he ruin any of your music threads? No, because he didn't have anything nice to say so he said nothing. Quote
Fish Man Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 I would post my opinion on this thread but i think ill pass. However when I'm old enough to have attained enough information on what REAL music is, equal to the elders i will gladly post (with your consent of course) Quote
Super User Dan: Posted February 6, 2009 Super User Posted February 6, 2009 OK then. Robert Cray is boring. He may be able to play more scales than RHCP but at least their songs sound different. Now we're back ONtopic and waiving the "niceties" (aka common courtesy) while deliberately coming off as aggressive to other members. Great! Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted February 6, 2009 Super User Posted February 6, 2009 Ok, I didn't want to do this, but you leave me no choice...... Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted February 6, 2009 Super User Posted February 6, 2009 Everyone has their own opinions that is a great thing, the world would be boring otherwise.... for what its worth RHCP did sound great while in the front row, straight in front of flea.... Quote
Super User Dan: Posted February 6, 2009 Super User Posted February 6, 2009 I do not feel unsafe or threatened Maybe belittling your music doesn't bother you, but it could bother other people. And as shown by this thread, it obviously does. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted February 6, 2009 Super User Posted February 6, 2009 I'm a big 70's guy. I love Classic Rock and Blues. I think that SRV may be a god, but I can't prove it. But, I like SOME of the newer stuff. Nirvana, Foo Fighters, White Stripes, and for some reason Rammstein. I like a wide variety of music. I've even been known to listen to Marcus Miller for hours. Quote
Super User Muddy Posted February 6, 2009 Super User Posted February 6, 2009 Declaration: I am sorry for gett5ing involved in this in the first place. I deal with youngsters over 50 hours a week, and when I come here I am sticking with the adults from now on. my mistake, and I will not be tangling or responding with the youngsters here anymore, I need a break. I am more than satisfied to spend my time among the ignorant old %#@$&* Like Long Mike Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted February 6, 2009 Super User Posted February 6, 2009 Truth be told at least this thread isn't about rap. I could listen to anything that is music and not put somebody down for liking it as long as it is actually music. : Quote
Saladmander Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Ok, I didn't want to do this, but you leave me no choice...... Never heard that before. Hope I never hear it again. Quote
