Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted February 3, 2009 Super User Posted February 3, 2009 Is there not one single steeler fan that thinks this last play was at least worth a replay? Every post from PA has been the same. Totally unobjective. b We were all waiting for it at my house. Never said I didnt think it deserved another look. Everyone was very surprised to see the Steelers kneeling to run out the clock w/o a review.
flyhatch Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 it was reviewed. http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/28971640/ According to NFL VP of Officiating Mike Pereira, the replay official upstairs did see the play clearly. We confirmed it was a fumble, said Pereira. The replay assistant in the replay booth saw it was clearly a fumble. The ball got knocked loose and was rolling in his hand before it started forward. He has to have total control.
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted February 3, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted February 3, 2009 For those of you trying to bury the bad officiating by telling people to "get over it", You know what? We don't have to get over it. The bad calls are getting so egregious that fans have a right to be ticked off. If there weren't any bad calls in this game, then we wouldn't be having this conversation right now. My "axe to grind" is with the NFL and lousy officials. Yours should be too.
flyhatch Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 The Officials make calls at real speed, and the review system helps them correct bad calls. Now, if the players didnt disobey the rules then we would not need officials, unless there werent any rules to disobey. Over all I think they do a darn good job.
flyhatch Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 At the super bowl everything is magnified. There were calls and non calls, as in every game. No more and no less than the average nfl game They just are seen by many more people in the superbowl.

Lucky Craft Man Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 So let's say the call at the end of the game was an incomplete pass and Warner had one more play where he throws it to Fitzgerald and the Cardinals win the Superbowl. I bet there wouldn't be these same people who are defending the Cardinal now, defend the Steelers in that situation. The reality is that these people do not like the Steelers and complain about anything they can to discredit the win. That's fine with me. If it makes them feel better and they can cope with their displeasure by ranting on a Bass Fishing Board about what happened in the Super Bowl, then good for them. Honestly, I would probably be complaining like they are if the Patriots or the Cowboys won the Super Bowl in the same fashion just so I can deal with my dislike for those organizations.
Lucky Craft Man Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Guarantee Huh? (how can say what people would do in a different situation?) You Psychic? You're right...I edited my post from "guarantee" to "bet". I like a good bet.
Daniel A. Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 The Stealers didn't win this one. The Cards lost it, and the refs blew it. Nothing worth gloating about. ...you have got to be kidding me. I can't wait for the Seahawks to win something. :
dave Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Funny. I expected to see Irene around here long ago. Where's the popcorn smiley when I need it? Can't say good night while the boss is in the mix.
Daniel A. Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 or the Saints.... I'd agree if I was a Saints fan. ;D
Lucky Craft Man Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 or the Saints.... I'd agree if I was a Saints fan. ;D I was really just pointing out that the list of "never haves" is very long. b Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, San Diego Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles, Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals, and the Seattle Seahawks The good news is if the President extends his share the wealth program to the NFL, then every team will get a Super Bowl Trophy.
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted February 3, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted February 3, 2009 And with that, let's end it. I think everyone got their .02 in on this one. Now it's just getting repetitive.
