Btech Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Was just getting ready for the 2009 season of NASCAR now that football is just bout over and was wondering how many fans we go on the site. Whoz your driver? (Jimmy doesnt count jk) - Im Kenseth Fan How are you liking the new "Car of Today" ? - I like old school better Is hendrick a "Super Team " With Mark now? - I think mark needs a win before he retires.... Or ... Whatever he is doing. Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted January 28, 2009 Super User Posted January 28, 2009 x2 Kenseth fan. Not sure about his car most of the time, but he's got class. Mark Favre? Just kidding. Like him, but maybe he should call it a day. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 28, 2009 Super User Posted January 28, 2009 Man, I don't know anymore, last season really burned me out. Too many terrible races, yellow flag finishes or worse, tire issues that make no sense and CHEATING! NASCAR has become a two tiered sport and the money always wins. Half the cars are nothing more than filler and most of those drivers have no chance of ever winning. Well, if all the lead cars come in on green and the race ends on yellow, like one race last year, some might finish one race in the top 10. On top of that, The Cars Of Tomorrow just don't inspire me or most fans. It seems the highlight of many races is the National Anthem and flyover! In a word, boring. > Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted January 28, 2009 Super User Posted January 28, 2009 NASCAR???????????????????????? Quote

Super User skunked_again Posted January 28, 2009 Super User Posted January 28, 2009 i still like nascar. i try to not get caught up in the political money machine that nascar has become and just watch the racing. BTW.............already have my tickets for the vegas race.......its not the best track to see a race at but in the end youre still in vegas. Quote
Bass Dude Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 This year you won't have as many "filler" teams either, so it will be even more boring. I hate seeing the same three or four drivers win. NASCAR is no longer about the drivers talents, it's all about the equipment---and as everyone says here, the more money, the better your car. Stick to your local tracks---local racers do it for the love of racing. Near me, in Oswego, we have asphalt Supermodifieds. These things all major a--!! They broke the 16 second mark for a 5/8 oval. They're almost like sheetmetal Indy Cars. Quote
dave Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 With Nascar as a marketing model, is B.A.S.S headed down the same path? Quote
Btech Posted January 28, 2009 Author Posted January 28, 2009 As a HUGE nascar fan - I agree with you all it is getting borring and getting to the point that money wins. Also on the topic of local racing YES im a huge fan running a Latemodel this year at my local dirt track so i know those who are in it for heart and soul - which brings me back to nascar - those who were there from the start such as Mark Martin and the old timers are why i still watch it. They are out there to drive what they got and to win the RACE not the cup. I think the CUP ruined Nascar ... Winston racing was 20X as exciting Seems ya either LOVE it or HATE it when it comes to 500 miles of left hand turns . Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted January 28, 2009 Super User Posted January 28, 2009 Btech...it was Winston Cup the only think changed is who paid more to add their name to the front of Cup... Nascar is to racing what the WWE is to wrestling. Nothing but entertainment, racing is not part of it anymore. It always amazed me how they could so make people believe the garbage they spill. Like how much they are concerned with safety however they were years behind other forms of racing. And how they are for equality, how many lower teams could do what Jimmy Johnson's crew chief has done and still be around. He has said in front of a camera he will continue to cheat, and Nascar has to find how. Speaking of the COT, what have they really developed? The items in it are nothing new. And even with that all the years of "developement" the still can't turn without being setup to crab walk down the straights. This list could go on and on but I think everyone gets what I am trying to point out. There are much better forms of racing out there for people who want actual racing. Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 28, 2009 Super User Posted January 28, 2009 Favorite Drivers - 48 and 99 Car of Today - OK since everyone is now driving the same car Mark Martin - No more victories - he needs to retire Quote
1inStripes Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Favorite Drivers - 48 and 99 Thats just not right pulling for both. Cousin Carl all the way. I miss when cars looked like stock cars. This ended around 93 or so. I still like racing and watch it, but as Ron White said, I like it, I don't love it. Quote

Olebiker Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I am a pretty big Carl Edwards fan, but NASCAR better do something quick or they are going to lose their fan base. Anyone notice the empty seats last year? What we have now is nothing more than IROC racing with the best cheater winning. As someone else mentioned, local racing is where the real competition is. It still beats the heck out of open wheel racing. : Quote
Btech Posted January 28, 2009 Author Posted January 28, 2009 Agreed Olebiker - It is as american as racing can get - Turned RIGHT into the Money PIT. Im gona watch this year - And will probably post about it - I just hope its not a disapointment and hopfully Kenseth doesn't run into the problems he did last year - It could be my last year watching as it takes a full day of fishing away Quote

In a word, boring. > The whole point of NASCAR is to cheat without getting caught. Thats the way it has always been. This goes for about any sport actually. The reason it sucks is because of the same people b**ching about the girls basketball team beating another team. Nobody wants their feelings hurt so they level the playing field so nobody has an advantage. Thats exactly why its boring. Thats like telling a 7ft basketball player he has to play on his knees just because hes tall. The same thing is happening in the NFL. We pay quarterbacks $20 million a year to throw a leather ball but God forbid he actually gets hit one time. The NFL will suck shortly too. Quote
tallydude Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I've never been a fan of NASCAR- too many left turns I guess- but I enjoy hearing about the rivalries and on occasion I'll watch part of a race. My favorite part has to be the NASCAR WAGs, though. These boys hit the jackpot when they make it big. Quote
bigdog Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 haven't really watched sinced it changed from winston to nextel an as the cot goes IT SUCKS!!!!!! Quote
Turtle. Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 NASCAR???????????????????????? You know, bunch of guy get in cars floor it and turn left ;D As drivers go I like Biffle and Kahn Used to be a huge fan but after last year gotta agree with R.W. BORING! Quote
Btech Posted January 28, 2009 Author Posted January 28, 2009 Lets turn it arround a bit ... Of yall WHO DO LIKE NASCAR ... would you spend your sunday watching the race or fishing at a local pond Just interesting to see who would pick Nascar ... although i know the answer im on the website right Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted January 28, 2009 Super User Posted January 28, 2009 Anyone notice the empty seats last year? : Maybe the economy and gas prices had something to do with it? I haven't liked the Cup format. Like others, I didn't care for how a lot of races ended. Advantages, for years DEI pretty much owned the secrets to restrictor plates races. Just like others have master the COT setups. But it has become somewhat boring and captures less of my TV time has it did. Still like certain venues as must watch. Quote

Talking about gas prices and consumption, why not run 50 laps and save a $hit ton of gas if you aren't even going to let the guys race? Quote
Jake. Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I'm a Kevin Harvick fan, but I also root for Dave Blaney because I went to school with his son for 7 years. Quote
