Walking the Frog???

Can anyone fill me in on their technique when fishing with frogs...I have been told to "walk-the-dog" with them but when I am using my SPRO frogs I have a very difficult time actually doing this. All I have been able to do is get it to sputter or pop on the top of the water. I cannot get it to go side to side at all. I can use a spook or any other walking bait perfectly fine but I am having a horrible time at this. Can anyone shed some light on this for me. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated....Thank you in advance...

When you are trying to walk any type of bait, leave some slack in your line. Don't reel when you twitch. When I walk a frog, I just twitch it a couple tugs at a time. When it darts left or right then back the other way, with slack in the line, it is really erratic. This is by far the best success I've had with a spro style frog. Horny toads, and others like it, I slowly swim. And on the lakes I fish (KS, NE, MO), the frog bite usually doesn't heat up till summer. When I go pond fishing, I always have one ready.

I think it's harder to do with frogs because of the shape, but getting in a good rhythm and keeping the right amount of slack in your line is key.

I hear the Reaction Innovations Swamp Donkey is a little easier to walk, because it's longer than the Spro.  

That said, I don't try for any side-to-side action on the frog when it's in motion...I swim it in a straight line, bobbing it up and down, then stop it, and then "walk" it left and right three or four times, almost in place.

Have you cut one of the "legs" shorter than the other?  This and a shorter twitch should get you going.
