-nick- Posted January 14, 2009 Author Posted January 14, 2009 Wow, very disappointed. Not worth the $10.50 in my book. Eastwood was great, but that was most likely because everyone around him was so bad. 10.50?! Holy crap its only about 6.50 at the theatres around me. But yeah i have to agree Eastwood was amazing but the other actors brought the movie down a lot but it was still great definately a movie to buy when it comes out. Quote
Mike 12345 Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I'm not sure that any movie that Clint Eastwood has ever been in, going all the way back to the spaghetti westerns, ever exemplified 'great acting'. But Clint is a powerful figure as is, and can carry the whole film. Producers have always understood this, I would imagine. Just thinking back to the Eastwood films I can remember off the top of my head, I can remember great quotes from almost all of them. I'll pay to see it. Pale Rider , my fave quote: "When he opened the fourth seal, the fourth beast said: "Come and see. And I looked "and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him "was Death "and Hell followed with him." Enter Clint Eastwood. Gotta love it. Quote

Will Munny: Well, he should have armed himself if he's going to decorate his saloon with my friend. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted January 14, 2009 Super User Posted January 14, 2009 I think he's a good actor. Not great, but good. Although he may be a better director. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 18, 2009 Super User Posted January 18, 2009 Wow! I haven't followed this thread closely, but it sure has turned negative. My take is quite a bit different: I think Clint Eastwood is one of the best actors of our time. He has worked in many films well distanced from his "Dirty Harry" persona. This was a great film, but others have been just as good. Grand Torino is Two Thumbs Up! 8-) Quote
fathom Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 this is on my list. would much rather spend my money on clint as i had keanu. as a side note, i actually owned a gran torino...but it was the original '69 model, not the later model shown in the film. Quote
GLADES Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 ...GET...OFF....MY....LAWN ! Classic Eastwood. I thought Gran Torino was the best movie I have seen in some time. The best part about was there were no computer special effects. Just a good story and a few lessons, and a surprising sad ending. I saw the Day the earth stood still with Reeves and Connelly. I thought the movie was crap. To much PC'ness and cheap computer animation. The story was altered from the original as well. Save your $$ on this one. Quote

Super User Bassn Blvd Posted January 18, 2009 Super User Posted January 18, 2009 I just watched Gran Torino and thought Clint was great, as always. Who else plays a tough guy role as natural as him? I hope he stays around to make/act more movies. Quote

Masshole Mike Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Saw it and would now like those 2 hours of my life back please... Thought the story was bland. The ending especially killed it for me. Reminded me of a re-tooled American History X, which I personally think was a phenomenal film, but Gran Torino doesn't even touch American History X as far as I'm concerned. Quote
