moby bass Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 IMHO non of the chain sandwich shops can be considered when the best I have ever eaten is from a locally owned shop. Once you have their "Italian Nightmare" nothing else is even worth considering. This sandwich is a full 4 inches thick and comes with your optional jalapeno peppers. I buy the whole one, eat 1/2 now for a meal and save the other half for next days meal. You cannot take a full bite from this sandwich, you must attack it from the edges, little by little. Quote
Super User fishinfiend Posted January 20, 2009 Super User Posted January 20, 2009 I'll take firehouse with roast beef and turkey on toasted bread with mayo, lettuce, onion, tomato, onion, italian dressing. Subway sucks ;D Publix makes a good sandwich too. Quote
ejtaylor822 Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Meatball marinara with some green peppers, cheese, onions and jalapenos is my favorite. Next is the spicey Italian with same. However, my first choice for "grinders" is Firehouse subs. They rock! Not to mention the selection of hot sauces is fantactic. X2 EJ I was not aware that there were Firehouse subs in NC :-? I will never eat subway again after having the Italian or Hook and Ladder from Firehouse, awesome ! Yes, they have started popping up around here in Raleigh/Durham/Chapel hill in the last year or so. Man, they are good. Love that pastrami with the works and cover it with hot sauce. I'm getting hungry. Quote

Super User Dan: Posted January 20, 2009 Super User Posted January 20, 2009 If I'm looking for a straight up hoagie style sandwich I go to the Italian Store in Arlington, VA. Quote
