I'm pretty sure it has been posted before.  There have been similar rigs used for quite some time before the 'Tubo' rig was introduced, one of which used a large pyramid weight and a crankbait.  Anyway...I only bed fish in tournaments when I have to do so to be competitive, and if I can't make a bass bite my plastic I flip on there, I'll just move on to the next bed.

those things are rediculous and definitley not worth what they cost.

there are MANY more natural looking options available to tick off a bedding bass.

an example would be to slip on a bullet weight and dont peg it, and then tie on a floating lizard of a floating rapala minnow or something, then when you twitch the rod, the lure goes down towards the weight (which is on the bottom) which makes it look like its eating eggs.

no sir i have not but you can tell they suck from looking at them!

my guess is they would never work, and even if they did work (very small chance) they certainly are not worth 20 bucks thats for darn sure.

also, there are MUCH better options, you cant argue that.

If I was just to look at a senko i'm fairly certain that I would say that thing sucks and noway its worth the price.

You are rightI can't argue that there are not better options b/c i've never fished the tubo rig.  The previous time is was posted on here though it was b/c a professional angler was crediting it for winning a tournament.

All the rigs you mentioned sound like great ways to catch bedding fish.  The difference is there is no place for the bait to hide.  The thing tubo rig might suck, but to say its not worth the price without ever even holding it in your hand is crazy.  For all YOU know the thing is made out of gold.

I was just wondering if anyone had ever heard of it.  It looked pretty silly to me too, honestly...for that kinda price anyway.  Still a good idea though.  I have used the pyramid sinker with a small rapala floater before when I couldn't get a fish P.O.ed enough with plastic.  Anyway, I just thought the whole "hiding" thing was kinda neat, but the lure should be a little more realistic IMO...true about the senko too though on that note!

Hey man! It's been awhile. This is the first time I've seen you on here since you got back, I guess I could have missed you though. Glad your back!

Yep, that rig supposedly won a major event a couple years ago though I don't remember which one just that it got the credit. It's a bed fishing set up. I haven't used it and probally won't because Ky. Lake isn't good for sight fishing.

Good points Dave, but I have to disagree to some extent. I haven't tried the rig, so I really don't have room to argue, but I believe the advantage the Tubo Rig would have on just a slip sinker with a floating plastic is that the bait can actually "hide" from the bass and prevent it from removing it off the bed, therefore agitating the fish even more.  I would think it would get more aggresive bites rather than the usual bite and blow it out in a blink of an eye that often happens with bedding fish. Like I said, I have no experience with it, this is just a guess from looking at it.

you also make some good points.

my opinion would be VERY different if this lure didnt look like a toddler's toy. if it was much less bulky and more realistic looking (and not $20) then i would say it is worth a good shot.

it needs some improvement but the concept could work.
