Super User Catt Posted January 15, 2009 Super User Posted January 15, 2009 Y'all remember these? Who is Esso? Jumping the bell hose; y'all ever do that? Filling Stations with a fill-up you got. The gas pumped for you, Your windshield cleaned, Oil & fluids checked, Tires checked, A free map, if you wanted it. Remember!!! It was my first job!!! Quote
Olebiker Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Esso is now Exxon. I thought Gulf had been bought out by BP years ago, but I saw a Gulf station recently. I remember getting S&H Green Stamps when we bought gas. I remember my Dad telling the attendant, "Fill it up with Ethyl." Quote
Fisher of Men Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 That's a good looking '56? (although I wouldn't know first hand like some of you) Chevy there. Full service stations were still around in the 70's as I grew up. There was a Phillips 66 station where my mom would always fill up. She would give the green stamps to my brother and I. It was always a treat to go and trade the books in on something. I remember getting a tackle box set and a camp axe (among other things I fail to remember). Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted January 15, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted January 15, 2009 My dad worked at one of those stations when I was kid. I drove my dads nuts jumping the bell hose! Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted January 15, 2009 Super User Posted January 15, 2009 I worked three years at my buddy's Gulf station. I HATED that darn bell hose. Falcon Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted January 15, 2009 Super User Posted January 15, 2009 When I lived in Colorado, we had a commercial account at a full service Phillips 66. Great people, went out of their way for me many times. My dad discovered pretty quick that you shouldnt have a V8 driving 16 year old on the account though ;D Quote
aceman387 Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 those pictures sure bring back some memories . i remember when i was a little kid coming home from school there was a gas station on the way home that had one of those bell hoses i remember jumping up and down a bunch of times making it ring and ring and this old man comes out from under a truck screaming GOD *AM YOU KIDS GET OUTTA HERE.
