paul. Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 post 'em up guys. what's your favorite madden play and what makes it work so well? mine's shotgun 4 wide "hitch corners" the outside receivers do 5 yd. hitches and the slot guys do corner routes. the back does a streak route straight up the middle. if the defense comes out in 4-3 or 3-4, you automatically have a mismatch as you will have linebackers trying to cover your slot receivers. if the defense is in man coverage, one of the corner routes will be open to the tune of about 15 yards. if the safety on one side creeps up in the box, throw to that side and it might go all the way. if the defense is in zone coverage, one of the hitch routes should be open for a 5 yd. quick hit, particularly if you use motion. or you can hot route audible to a drag route across the middle. or you can audible to the draw play and gash the defense up the middle for a healthy gain (particularly if they are in a 3 man front). if the lb(s) vacate the middle of the field to assist in coverage, you can always make 'em look real silly with a qb run right up the middle after the defense drops into coverage. if the defense gives you a 3 man front (particularly with only one lb), you have a 5 on 4 mismatch with your ol vs. their dl. and you can pound the rock. back when i played a lot, i could beat the computer every time using just this one play if i wanted to. it's money baby! i guess y'all can tell that (a) i've been playing madden today and ( i'm extremly bored today. ;D anyway, i'd like to hear what plays y'all like to use so i can add them to my arsenal. daviscw Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I play. Most of the time I just put a Hot Route on T.O., send him deep, and pray to goodness he catches it. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted January 8, 2009 Super User Posted January 8, 2009 Yup I play Madden,Running play is Strong slot right, stretch right (or left/left if you flip the formation). WR's always seem to run the CB's down the field out of the play, TE blocks the OLB or DE in, back runs wide. Any better than average back on Madden can consistantly gain 5-8 yds on this play. Pass play is Shotgun, 4 wide, RB option. Left out side WR runs a short hook and is usually open, left slot reciever runs a streak route, and when you catch the defense covering him with a LB is a sure big gain, back runs an option route up the middle , he either sits in the middle of the field or breaks it to the right, depending on the coverage, this route s usually open 99% of the time with any decent RB. Right slot runs a deep post, and like the left slot, if a LB is on him it's money. Right WR runs a 15yd deep in, I typicaly put my #1 receiver on this route because I like to throw right more, and any of the better #1's can consistantly get open on this route, especialy when the saftey jumps on the right slot guy running the deep post. Daniel A. Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 My favorite... "Ask Madden" HAHAHAHA ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I played Madden against a younger family member who isn't football savvy. He asked Madden every play. Midway through the first quarter, he couldn't understand why I was killing him when I had the ball and my defense wouldn't give up a first down. ;D Quote
atx_newbie Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Running play: Split backs formation (pro-style set), quick toss to the weak side. Put the fullback in motion out to the weak side, to get a good lead block. It will rarely go far, but it's the best way to get a first on 3rd and 3 or 4. Pass Play: Split backs again, QB Rollout. The receiver to the strong side runs a slant in, then a slant back out. He is almost always open. And if that receiver happens to be T.O., it's a TD more often than not. If there is any problem to Madden '09, it's that T.O. was made ridiculously too good. Yeah, he's a decent receiver, but not THAT good. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted January 9, 2009 Super User Posted January 9, 2009 I play NCAA 09. I have a dynasty where I got a helluva offense. It cannot be stopped!!!!!! I can score quickly or I can score slowly. Got the brute up front to churn out the ground game and got the speed on the corners to pass the ball. my defense are alright. Got lot of speed but it impossible to cover on that game. > Quote
