Chatterfrogs

Last Sunday morning I asked a buddy of mine if he wanted to go fish one of my favorite spots and he seemed like he didn't want to go but decided to anyways. When we got out to the location he ties on a chatterfrog and starts throwing them and he starts pulling in LMBs almost every other cast. He boated over 20lbs in a matter of a couple of hours. Needless to say I could not keep up with him, I ended up with only about 5lbs, I got my but kicked in one of my favorite spots. After we got back home I cleaned up the boat and went out and bought some. I have never had luck with chatterbaits but my buddy proved they work pretty sweet in the right locations. I will be going back there next weekend and trying these out for myself, I hope to have the same success that he did.

I have no doubt that chatterbaits work but I have had no success with them. Looks like you found one spot that they are a must!

Aren't Chatterfrogs just green looking Chatterbaits? How was he using them?

The one my buddy was using is green and orange and the trailer actually looks like real frog legs.  He was throwing them at the edge of the pads and reeling in at a steady pace back to the boat.

I must be living in the dark. First time I have heard of a chatterfrog. Don't care for the chatterbait either. Never had a hit with one.

I have caught many many fish with the chatterbait.  The frog is the same thing but mimmiking a frog.  When a steady retrieve doesnt work try pulling the bait with your rod and then reeling in the slack.  This causes a stop and go action of the bait.  Sometimes the chatterbait is the best lure and sometimes it dont work at all.  but when it does you usually blast em.

The biggest difference in the chatterfrog I have found is it is made to run shallow and ride high in the water column.The line tie on the jighead is positioned at a diferent angle.

Alright, thank ya'll! One of my biggest fish was off of a white Chatterbait. While it has caught fish, it is hardly a decent producer for me. I'll have to give the frogs a try.

I went out Saturday with the chatterfrog and put it to the test myself. I caught 4 nice keepers in about a 2 hour period throwing the chatterfrog up against the pads. The lmbs slammed this lure hard and the fights were a lot of fun. The only problem I had was when a long-nosed gar attacked it and cut the line with his teeth. On my way home I stopped by the local tackle store and picked up a couple more of these lures.

I have several of the Chatterfrogs that Mr. Bait Monkey persuaded me to buy and I really like the action they have in the water. I haven't caught anything on them yet but I think it's just a matter of time(ing) until I do. They seem to have great potential, IMO:o)

i got the chatterbait kit as a gag gift last christmas.

i never fished chatterbaits much. it had a few chatter frogs in the kit though.

the only difference is the shape of the head right? its suposed to be wider to look like a frog? they dont float do they?

I bought a couple of Gambler Swim blades, at the local outdoor store, for $1.99, marked down from $6.99. I was actually looking for Booyah boogie  blades, but they were out of them. I looked at the Chatterbaits, but the color I wanted was in the Gamblers. I tied one on tonight, and on three casts, I caught two LMB. I have caught bass on the boogie bait, (the small size), and the Strike King Pure Poison, but the colors weren't what I'd like to have. In my particular lake, pumpkinseed, or green pumpkin work the best, whether jigs, worms or blade jigs. These are the real deal, not to mention, they cast like a rocket.
