With all the coaching spots and GM positions, where do you think the good coaches will be next season?

Shannahan, Shottenheimer, Mangini, Dungy, etc.

Shanahan--says he'll take a year off, but I think he'd accept a good offer now.

Schottenheimer--on the sidelines, although I think he'd be better than a lot of existing coaches. I'd take him for the Bills in a heartbeat in place of Jauron.

Mangini--appears to be the front runner for Cleveland.

Dungy--no announcement yet. Either Indy or rocking chair.

If Shanahan goes to Dallas, T.O. and Packman are gone.

No more drama, no more "Dallas" the soap opera. I'm not

sure he's up to the task, but Dallas needs a Rotor Rooter

treatment!

I'm anxious to see what Al Davis does. I'm praying that he will swallow his pride, step aside (just a little bit) and at least TRY to bring in a 'proven' coach for the 2009 season. I'd actually like to see Bill Parcells go west and rebuild the Raiders.

I know Shanahan's out of the question obviously but I'd take Marty Schottenheimer in Oakland in a flat second.

I think Mangini will probably go with the Browns. Cable has made a strong pitch to stay as the coach at Oakland and I've heard he's been kissing Al Davis' @** so that may work out for him. I think we'll see Shottenheimer and probably Dungy in a box seat instead of on the field next year if at all. I don't see either being a coach next season but quite possible being GMs.

MARTY! MARTY! MARTY!

I love the chant. Always a loser, but at least he has been consistent.

BTW,

Oakland cheerleaders are super hot! That's a great selling point for the slug.

I wouldn't brand Marty as a loser at all, he has just had some really bad luck in the Playoffs. I know Marty has nightmares about a guy named Elway, who single-handedly got Marty ousted from Cleveland with his heroics in Playoff games against the Browns.

His Playoff luck has to change one day, might as well be when he's in Oakland.

Actually, TO probably wouldn't be gone.  Shanahan was the only other coach to bring TO in for a workout.  He likes TO, and TO does respect Shanahan.  As a Cowboy fan, I am fine with cutting the riff raff out, but don't think necessarily that Shanahan would be all for dumping TO.

wouldn't wish this even on billy mays but, if parcells really wanted a challenge...

he'd move to detroit.

Detroit wouldn't be a challenge for Parcells. The owners leave almost everything up to the GM. Detroit could be one of the easiest vacancies to succeed in.

There are absolutely no expectations in Detroit...

I think the most challenging position is with the Jets. Who would want to step into that coaching role, especially with the locker room tension with Favre?

last i heard, jones was sticking with phillips in dallas. i honestly think the main reason is that he prematurely promised phillips his job was safe before the wheels fell off against philly. had jones not done this, i believe phillips would have already been fired by now. and he still might be. i believe another reason phillips is still around is that the '08 season showed that garrett was not the savior-in-waiting he had been previously believed to be. i agree that pacman should have already been gone, fired from the nfl, not just the cowboys. t.o. will stay put because for all his trouble, he's still one of the best at his position.

i don't think parcells will go anywhere.

shanahan and cowher (and to a lesser degree shottenheimer) could probably go wherever they wanted, both both will probably take the year off. shanahan will come closer to coaching in '09 than cowher i think. suddenly cowher had achieved super-human status. it seems with every year he takes off, he somehow becomes a better coach and a more desired commodity.

with dungy, it will be the colts or nothing. i don't think he will be pushed, but he may jump because he has some pretty big goals outside of football.

i say bring back jim "playoffs?" mora and dennis "they were who we thought they were" green. ;D

what about brian billick? will he get another shot? at least he's won a superbowl.

but perhaps the biggest question of all is, how did mangini get thrown in with those other guys and labeled a "good coach"? :P :P  :P

Expect to see Rod Marinelli as a defensive coach for the Seahawks or Chicago Bears next year.

Also I'm going to go out on a limb and say Jeff Jagodzinski (head coach for Boston College) will be head coach for the Jets.  If not, than perhaps offensive coordinator for the Seahawks.

I'm most interested in seeing how Singletary pans out in SF next year.  Should be interesting.
