Super User burleytog Posted January 4, 2009 Super User Posted January 4, 2009 Wow, could the Chargers OL hold more often and not get called for it? It's almost like I'm watching the Alabama/Utah game again. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted January 4, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted January 4, 2009 Goodbye Peyton!! Goodbye Atlanta!! What a great day in the NFL! BTW - I think that's the 6th or 7th year in a row the NFC West has knocked off a team in the first round of the play offs. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 4, 2009 Super User Posted January 4, 2009 Remarkable really... MVP...out Rookie Of The Year...out No doubt, both Arizona and San Diego brought on their A Game yesterday. Congratulations to the Cardinals and Chargers, that was some show! 8-) Quote
Turtle. Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 WOW I must have watched a different game. I have to agree with Burley worst called game I've seen in awhile. And whats sad is I've said that several times this year. Sad day in the NFL. A sad sad day indeed. Quote
fathom Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 from what i saw, the officials won that game more than san diego won that game. > Quote
Super User Tin Posted January 4, 2009 Super User Posted January 4, 2009 Indy got beat up by 5'6" of fury. And he is a free agent at seasons end. I did like Peyton's hurry-up/no huddle bomb that had the Chargers wondering what happened. Quote
Bassboy15 Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 My boy Darren SPROLES!!!! He went to K-State! I used to love watching him. He goes into those big piles and pops out the other side. Quote
Jake. Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 The Colts couldn't stop Sproles and Scifres kept Peyton and company from having any decent field position most of the game. Colts fans can whine about the officiating all they want, but the Colts D couldn't stop the Chargers when they had to and the Offense couldn't convert on important opportunities from turnovers. Quote
frogtog Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I like Rivers, in case you didn't know he was the QB for NC state and we don't have much to root for around here. Unless you want to root for the Tar Hills. ;D Sure wished the Dolphins or Panthers had picked him up. : Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted January 4, 2009 Super User Posted January 4, 2009 My boy Darren SPROLES!!!! He went to K-State! I used to love watching him. He goes into those big piles and pops out the other side. X 2 I used to go to lots of big 12 games when my wife was in College Station, and Sproles was definitely someone to keep an eye on (or two guys). But........what happened to Beasely? LOL b My claim to fame: On the very 1st play of the 7th grade football season (my first ever playing organized football) I stuck him pretty good for about a 5 yard loss. Don't ask what he did the rest of the game . The first play is all that really matters anyway. ;D As he becomes more and more sucessful in the NFL, my legacys just grows and grows. ;D Quote
Daniel A. Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I liked Rivers in college, but he's just not talented enough to be as arrogant as he is. Ain't that the truth. I can't stand his arrogance. Isn't this the first playoff game he's won?? Quote
Jake. Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I liked Rivers in college, but he's just not talented enough to be as arrogant as he is. Ain't that the truth. I can't stand his arrogance. Isn't this the first playoff game he's won?? Not talented enough? He was the #1 ranked QB in the NFL this year with a 105.5 rating and 34 TD passes. Philip talks smack, but he can usually back it up. If you want arrogance, take a look at Jay Cutler. :-X He has a 3-2 career record in the playoffs. 2 wins against the Colts, 1 against the Titans, and 2 losses to the Patriots. Quote
1inStripes Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 I would liked to have seen another replay of the last punt SD had. I may have challenged it if I were Dungy. It appeared to me the guy dove to get the ball as it was going out of bounds hit the pile on. If so, it would have probably been called a touchback had he touched the ball before it hit out of bounds, and may have saved the game for the Colts. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 4, 2009 Super User Posted January 4, 2009 Wow! If they hadn't run out of time and scored more points, the Colts could have won! Quote
1inStripes Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 That much was true and the little things, add up in a game. Quote
Super User fishinfiend Posted January 5, 2009 Super User Posted January 5, 2009 Atl out and Indy out :'( Looks like I will practice jigging. Quote
Mattlures Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Wow what terribly wrong statements about Rivers. first he is not arrogant at all. I have been to a bunch of the games. When he is talking, its in fun. He is playing with the fans. When they showed him on film, Cutler was running his mouth. Cutler started talking smack to several chargers players including Rivers. Rivers talked some back with the cameras on him. Not talented enough HAH !!!!!! Peyton and Brady are the only QB's that are better and they are barley better. Breese, Eli, and Rothlesburger are about equal to Rivers. He is the best QB still playing right now. Look at his numbers. If any of you actually seen him in action in person and seen how he interacted with the fans you wouldn't have such ridiculous slams on MR RIVERS. Plus last year he had 2 ligaments operated on right after the chargers beat Indy and he played the entire championship game against the Pats 3 days after surgery. I wouldn't trade him for any QB in the league! The Chargers will host and beat the Ravens in 2 weeks Quote
fathom Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Wow! If they hadn't run out of time and scored more points, the Colts could have won! kinda reminds me of what an old running buddy used to say... "if we had some bacon, we could have some bacon and eggs...if we had some eggs." Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 5, 2009 Super User Posted January 5, 2009 Half of the quarterbacks in the NFL are average or below average. Quote
Mattlures Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 hmmm well lets see he just beat Manning for the hundredth time in a row!!! He has the highest rating of any QB this season and I bet he has the highest win percentage of any QB playing. Yes no titles but I guess Marino sucked to. Quote
Mattlures Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Ok well MR RIVERS just beat Dan Fouts's touchdown record. But hey Who is Fouts? he never won a title either. Fouts is/was right there with Marino. Also how long did it take Peyton to win a title? see Rivers is right there with the best playing. If he was arrogant(which he is not) he has earned it. Why would that be bad anyways. Why should a professional athlete at the very top of his sport have to act the way his critcs want him to? Why should a top pro be politicaly correct. Look at ALI he said it like it was and backed it up. He never acted PC. However you are mistaken about Rivers. He is extremly competetive so he get fired up. When sombody like Cutler runs his mouth Rivers answerd back. Not to metion he was a rookie. He never even got into it with anybody this year. Give him a break. He has mutured and yes I think he is a little better then big Ben and Eli and about even with Breeze. He is a lot better then Romo and that next tier of QB's I predict the Chargers win against Pit but if they dont thats still respectable. Pit is strong. Quote
Mattlures Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Yes I like Rivers. I didnt at first. I was mad when they let Breeze go. When Rivers played in the championship game last year he won me over. 3 days after a major surgery and he plays and played well against an undefeated pats team. The bolts even scored more times then the pats but they got td's and the bolts got fg. The chargers may never win a title. its possible I dont think any team from SD except for soccer ever has. Yes titles make legasies but there are 52(i think) other players out there. Its probably the one sport that 1 man realy cant cary a team by himself. Heck half the time the QB isnt even playing. Rivers is a monster QB and he is getting better. If he were to win a ring or two he would be right there comparred to Manning and Brady. I dont think the bolts get there this year though. To many injuries. I guarantee you if Dallas trade Romo for Rivers you woundnt be complaining. Maybe at first you would but you would come around. I actualy feel sorry for Romo. Dallas has so many issues that poor Romo has to deal with. That team is not a team. It has cancers Quote
